had a fair share of people messaging me telling my bike was worth no more than 2k *its a 20 year old fucking bike dude, it isnt worth 4-5k, all that shit you did doesnt matter* all kinds of reasons trying to dumb my price down.

I basically said, ok. well enjoy those cheap bikes that literally are 20 year old with all original parts and gaskets and leaks along with their 20-30-40k miles. they got mad. unfortunately a lot of the chats started with hello, then ended up being douchebags when I wouldnt lower price. but most was completely happy with the price, even on a group of sportsters they said "im not even going to complain about the price of that bike, it has its worth in parts and reliability" from being completely fresh.

but I feel Facebook is one of the WORST platforms to sell, its like they want you to give things to them for free. I always sell the items though, I just ignore the people who try to poach ads and people who know the real value always come by and pay.

what makes it real bad is I dont have Facebook, so its my gf's profile and people talk to her account like shes an idiot to try and get a lower price or deal telling her she has isnt what it is or whatever. (unbeknown) its a male, and I even state this is my gf's account and they entirely change their persona.
That's why I use craigslist. No comments. šŸ˜„

Good job on the sale, happy you got it done. Lesson learned on this one, and stick by this rule: NO HOLDS. Put it in the ad. You only hold it if you have the deposit in your hot little hands. If they can't commit to sending you the deposit RIGHT NOW, all bets are off and it's still for sale to the first guy that comes along with cash in his hand or a legitimate electronic payment ready to go.

People slay me with what they think the general public owes them. I'm glad you didn't sell to him, because he never would have been happy with it.

I buy everything out of state pretty much. Trucks, cars, rv’s, trailers, equipment. We’re landlocked here so it makes financial sense to do so. Diligence is important, but equally important is not over analyzing things and shooting yourself in the foot. You can pretty much get a very good sense of who your dealing with by just the interaction.

I'm looking at buying a car (or two) that are well beyond a day's drive and was going to start a thread on the best way to go about it; the situation is largely the same though, just a significantly larger amount of money involved.

Any pointers are welcome.

I had a guy on another motorcycle forum send me a message saying my ad was pretty awful and wouldnt sell. heres part of it.

this guy is a "HD connosuier" or whatever.

Screen Shot 2022-04-01 at 12.07.59 AM.png

and he was wrong. the guy told me he read it and its exactly what he wanted because of everything I did to it and it being basically brand new bike and all receipts etc the upkeep and extras I had in it.-- and all the other people who wanted it and Florida Guy.

you know, im not very good with literature in general I suck ass at typing, but I put exactly what I mean into my words and im honest with potential buyers, dont hide anything. I always sell the item and everyones always happy. havnt had a bad meeting yet on vehicles from people who buy from me, if its a broken item, I tell them exactly thats its broken, or any issue ive ever had.

works for me.

I mean, guess technically he is correct. but if you have good quality stuff, it'll sell no matter what you put on there. the buyer knows what they want.

I found an old folder of pics! just sent to the guy so he can keep them. this is what she used to be.

I had a great time doing it, rode for 6 years, got all the money I put into it + some, and I got to experience owning a sportster for awhile. replaced a ton of wear items when I had it apart, so its basically brand new. did it just because I never really intended to sell it.

Eitherway, he got a nice bike and I got my money back. except my moms initial purchase. but that doesnt impact me. I did give my mom some money even though she said no. she did give me a bike.

Bang up job on the transformation! I had a lot of fun on my Sportster build too. Now all I need to do is get it out more often and ride.

Do you still have the Suzi that’s parked next to it?

So I sold it when I found out about the new gsxs1000 that came out, its the same bike, but has fairings, some added luxury things, and has panniers that can be taken on and off. so I sold it, I paid 10k for the bike OTD. rode it 3 years, sold it for 8500 (I gave him 500 off for traveling across country) he actually had 9k in his pocket and removed it when he double confirmed price. but no one locally was biting so eh. then I had 700 in paint job.

seemed smart to unload it to upgrade.

This was my 2013 gsxr 750 I had for 5-6 years - once I got the gsxs1000 it was so much more ergonomic that I said I would never own a true race sportbike again, sold it afterwards. then I realized, no windprotection bites ass on highway. so I put a mini windshield on it, but even then I was still not happy. so a new GSXS1000 model came out, and im upgrading to it. (pre ordered it)

I loved the handling, positioning, and power. just lacked wind protection. low behold 2022 gsxs1000 GT fixes all that! pics attached

so its a 6k upgrade to go from that gsxs to the gsxs 1000GT. but I really think I will ride this bike a ton. my only complaint was lack of wind protection, they fixed it, and gave me optional bags. and cruise control, so maybe I will ride a lot further (I ride 99% highway)

I feel like im a whole new person this year on major midlife crisis I assume lol. Its like I started over, mustang, harley, sportbike, my scooter, everything I sold out. Buying this sportbike, which I already have 15k saved up, so the day it arrives, its paid in full. Will just work, pay down my house and see what happens in 5 years. enjoy myself til then

but I feel good right now, today with all my actions.

The GSXS-1000reminds me of the B-King or the 1200 Bandit. I love the GSXR’s too. I’ve had three in my lifetime (600, 750 and 1000). Since you shared, here’s my 08 GSXR-1000 drag bike and my 19 883 (now 1275) Sportster. It’s not made for comfort, but it surprises the heck out of a lot of people. They just don’t expect it to get out of it’s own way so quickly.

That’s a great plan brother! We only have one life to live, so we might as well enjoy it as much as we can while we’re here.

Absolutely clean rides. Can’t wait to see a post one day finished product. I think I will own a scooter one day again.

truth be told. I really enjoyed hopping on scooter. Riding few miles up to jogging trails etc, go on daily runs, 110mpg, and the new Zuma has a luggage area.

Maybe able to fit a rucksack on it and ruck at places. It’s more fun than driving cars and more economical. But I will wait til prices go back to normal one day.

my gsxr 750 was amazing but my back can’t handle it anymore the gsxs upright was a whole new animal. Onlycomplain was no wind protection. Same as Harley initially. The puig on harley was a godsend. Id do it day 1 next time.

my Friend has the same year as your bike same color too. But his gsxr logo had blue on it. I think he was a 600. Pretty bike though.

i absolutely loved the look of my 750. It was fricken beautiful. If I kept it I could of gotten easily 10k today. Prices on them are ridiculous now.

Isn’t the prettiest thing, but there’s a space on front for stuff and grab handles/etc can put a ruck I think on the rear tied to it. Some caribiners.
I got my previous zuma for 3k otd.

cycle trade shows them 3600msrp and like 5k otd. Fark off
