Pics are hard to go by. I drove from Chicago to SE Kentucky for a truck once, everything was misrepresented. I was there 2 minutes, saw many major problems, and left. I'd never buy without seeing it in person. I saved my ass that time.
That's my fear. I've never bought any vehicle without seeing it, or having someone I trust lay eyes on it.

You need to lay eyes on it, or there’s a good chance of getting burned. I’ve bought new cars from out of state, but obviously that is a whole different scenario.

The Florida guy just ripped me out. I never told him it was his, said I’d look into it. He said he wanted to lock it down this Friday, guy came paid cash and done.

i told him just now I’m sorry, local buyer came bought it right now.
Dude went off, he is a pushy guy from get go. Saying I’m unethical and he was first and he should of gotten it. Etc.. I said Goodluck finding bike hope you get one and blocked.

i mean, I wasn’t comfortable with the wire let alone having a long distance sell and possibly bike get damaged in via transport.

i don’t feel good about him being mad. But I think he’s unreasonable about his expectation for me to refuse in cash hand buyers and cater towards possible headsche/end rant

And that's an example of what I mentioned earlier about selling to the general public.

He who shows up with the cash first wins.

There’s an old saying that money on the wood makes the whole deal good. I would have done exactly what you did. You have a buyer in hand with cash wins every time. What happens if Florida deal falls through at the last minute?

I’m sure that guy would be bitching about a scrape in the paint or shipment damage, etc. and continue to make your life miserable. You chose well.

When I sold my bike to a guy in CA he hired the shipper and the shipper took several pictures and notes prior to loading it on the truck. At that point it’s on the shipper.

Florida Man reminds me of a Craigslist debacle of mine. I was GIVING something away, a nice garden bench that I had built. Just wanted it gone so I could start demolition on the deck that it had sat on and not have it sit around getting in the way. Had a lady call, wanting it, telling me that she would be over that evening to get it. No show. The next day a guy called and came over and picked it up in the space of fifteen minutes. Later that night the lady called back wondering what time she might pick it up. When I said it was gone she freaked out that I didn't hold it for her, and I had to deftly explain how free of charge works when the item in question is the only one you have.

Congrats with the sale.

had a fair share of people messaging me telling my bike was worth no more than 2k *its a 20 year old fucking bike dude, it isnt worth 4-5k, all that shit you did doesnt matter* all kinds of reasons trying to dumb my price down.

I basically said, ok. well enjoy those cheap bikes that literally are 20 year old with all original parts and gaskets and leaks along with their 20-30-40k miles. they got mad. unfortunately a lot of the chats started with hello, then ended up being douchebags when I wouldnt lower price. but most was completely happy with the price, even on a group of sportsters they said "im not even going to complain about the price of that bike, it has its worth in parts and reliability" from being completely fresh.

but I feel Facebook is one of the WORST platforms to sell, its like they want you to give things to them for free. I always sell the items though, I just ignore the people who try to poach ads and people who know the real value always come by and pay.

what makes it real bad is I dont have Facebook, so its my gf's profile and people talk to her account like shes an idiot to try and get a lower price or deal telling her she has isnt what it is or whatever. (unbeknown) its a male, and I even state this is my gf's account and they entirely change their persona.

Local and cash is always better. But what if it’s fake money? Jk :)

People are such drama queens when it comes to sales. First come first serve always 😊 I love your stories btw you always have something interesting to share or that happens to you.
