I've been happy with my Vantrue N4. Gets the front, back and inside. Only downfall is no wifi.
Withstands the FL heat which was a must for me.

Yeah I do but I park in my own garage. It's not that noticeable from outside, but if you're worried about it you can remove the camera easily, there's a piece that attaches to your windshield with double sided tape, and then the camera clicks onto that piece. I'll find some pics:

Mine is similar to this except it only cost me $45 from Amazon and I used 3M Lock Velcro for easy removal, along with a OBD port power supply cord also from Amazon.

I use the blackvue dash cams in all of our vehicles. They are expensive, but discreet and good video quality (very important...detail is hard to make out on a lot of dash cam recordings). They can be hard wired into the fuse box and they have a parking mode which will turn off after a certain amount of time (that you set) has passed, and/or the battery voltage reaches a certain level (to ensure no dead battery). I've been running 5 of them if five different cars now for over a year and no issues, no dead battery. You can remove the front camera pretty easily from the mount if you want, but it is so discreet that it is really set and forget.

Do not bother with the cloud recording service...it is an expensive ripoff.

I found that the guy who runs this site does a pretty good job discussing and reviewing Dashcams:

https://www.vortexradar.com/best-dashcams/

I purchased the VIOFO A129 Pro Duo 4K for both of my vehicles, and so far I've been impressed.

Some of my own notes to share:
  1. I am not using the dashcam parking modes which require more wiring and risk of excess car battery drain.
  2. I am not using the WiFi features. If I need to download footage from the dashcam to my computer, then it is easy to pop out the microSD card and connect it to a computer for a faster transfer of video files. WiFi is painfully slow, especially with bigger, high resolution files.
  3. I really like having both a FRONT and REAR dashcam.
  4. I STRONGLY recommend getting a "high endurance" microSD card. Regular cards have higher reports of recording problems. Both Samsung and SanDisk make good high endurance cards, and I went with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B984HJ5
  5. I also purchased the VIOFO lens filters, to reduce glare and protect the camera lenses. See link here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0KVD4C
  6. I've sometimes used a rechargeable power bank to power the dashcam, if connecting to the car's USB isn't convenient (like I'm using the car's USB port for some other accessory). It also let's me keep the camera running when the car is not running. Here is one I've been using that I like: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08729Z2JX

I bought Apeman with the front and back lenses all in one. The first one I bought on Amazon and the last two I bought from their website:

https://apemans.com/collections/das...H9Oz_wJOyEoiLExICZ0c4Hxae8omAZSRoC7VEQAvD_BwE

They only cost me $40 to $50 dollars. The first one was 2K front and 1080p rear, and the last ones were 1080p on both. I like the idea of having both front and rear cameras in one unit. All three cameras I've had around 1 year with no problems. I have contacted them by email and it takes awhile but they answer every time. I use a 32G SD card and I can't imagine needing more, it loop records and even knows to save the file if in an accident.

I researched quite a few Dash Cams online, read various reviews, read the multiple threads on here and kept coming back to the Rexing dual channel model. I know the Thinkware brand seems to get high reviews on here also, but I wasn’t impressed with that brand due to lack of a display screen for instant playback capabilities.

I hard wired it; nice little cam w/ a lot of good features. Pretty cool having both front and rear views. There’s also an App to d/l where it can be streamed right to a mobile device with other features on that secondary platform.

It's similar to the above VIOFO style of cam.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet - Super Capacitor rather than Lithium battery.

Most all dash cams use one or the other for various reasons. The super capacitor, which acts like a battery in this application, will cope with more/higher heat than the battery. Less heat related failures.

Also team Blackvue. Currently using a DR-750x 2ch (so front and rear). Records 1080p out of both cameras. I've contemplated going to the DR-900x for 4k out of the front, but not made that jump yet as I've not had any issues with my current setup. Cams are hardwired and parking mode records all the time time the battery gets down to either 11.5 or 12v, not sure what I have it set at. And I don't drive very far for work/work from home half the time, so it does drain the battery pretty regularly. But if you're driving often/further distances/able to pop it on a battery tender every so often.

Have only driven my new mustang ~ 300 miles and already come into contact with an idiot where if I didn't react absurdly quickly would've merged right into my front end.

What dash cams do you all use? Preferably easily removable.
I have a blackvue DR900 x 2 channel with 256 M memory card and LTE connection which allows Comms and upload whenever an event. It’s pretty good with great service and support. It’s all wired in discreetly so I leave mine connected and in car all the time. Cheers

I've got a blackvue dash cam as a bithday gift. I like the way it films everything, but I am not a fan of oall the wiring job that I need to make (don't have much experience with it)

I’m sure it must be an age related thing but could one of you younger fellas please help a certified OF understand the whole dashcam thing? Is it just to record an accident in the rare event somebody cuts you off and smacks you? Absent an accident I don’t think the cops are gonna pursue a close call.

Just seems like a lot of fiddling around to cover a very low probability occurrence but I’m probably missing something.

It is primarily a CYA thing for me - especially in this day and age of everything being turned into a lawsuit, especially if injuries or "injuries" are involved. Insurance will only protect you up to a certain amount, then you are on your own and at the mercy of the court system.

Another thing is it can provide evidence in the case of being wrongly accused of a traffic violation, whether it be speeding, red light, stop sign, etc (the blackvue cam for instance records GPS speed). Of course, this can also go against you if you drive like an a**hole on the street. Personally, I drive like a grandma on the street and save the fun for the track, but Ive come to find that it doesn't seem to matter since more sportscar drivers in my area set a bad example than not, so the cops seem to look for any and all excuse to pull one over.

Just my experience - everyone's area is different!

Just an update everyone! Thanks for the recommendations! I ended up going with the A129 Plus Duo and am going to hardwire it with parking mode. I DD the car atleast 12 miles so I think the battery should be okay with the camera running in low power mode overnight.

I got the Escort combo. M1 with the detector looks like this. So far it's been great.

I second Rexing. Great price, discreet behind the rearview mirror, and great customer support in my experience. Phone app is a little finicky, but overall a great brand to buy.
