Perhaps.

Indeed, you can paint them on the car - Approaching Captain Obvious territory here.

It is easier and takes much less time to just remove the caliper and paint them properly on a bench. Unless of course you don't know what you are doing regards the removal process.
NOT EVERYONE on this site, has the tools or the knowledge to crack open the braking system and then properly bleed the system. So CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, did you ever think of that?
Nah, as that take thought, logic and reason.
Some owners just like the cars but are not mechanics or want to get that deep in a project, when they never done anything with vehicle brakes other than take it to a shop and pay the bill for the repair/replacement parts.
Some of us, understand that not everyone on this forum or others are master Techs. And might have never done much other than an oil change.
Just because you might know how to crake open the brake system and know how to properly bleed the system and have all the correct tools to do so, does NOT men everyone on here does. And that is ok. we all started at some point. but what is OBVIOUS to you, can be over someone else's head, that never touched a vehicles brakes.
Might want to remember that.

Guffaw! It takes a crescent wrench, a rubber stopper, and a foot.

And still my post went straight over your head.
Elaborate on which part please.

You were the one saying that it takes a garage of tools and a certified mechanic. You are wrong. It isn't over most people's heads. Maybe for you it is, but painting calipers on the car is a hack's way of doing it and far more difficult to do right than removing the calipers.

It takes one tool and a foot.

Thanks for this, but painting seems to be the most cost effective way to go, pretty simple too...
If you can do it yourself, sure.

Paying upwards of $1300 for the shop to do it as you mentioned is not anywhere near as cost effective, but pretty easy to do.

I don't know why there is all this back and forth but that is a sign of the times. Look! I have never been a licensed mechanic, but taking your time, cleaning everything, masking off carefully, cover your rotors with a piece of newspaper. and carefully spraying the paint ...............well the pictures do not lie. Just saying.

Reminds me of the Cadillac forum when I had a CTS ... "wheres a good place to have your oil changed" , "when after buying should I have it waxed" type questions ... Ie people on the forum never did their own work. Taking it somewhere to get calipers painted ... yikes. :)

So $1200 to buy red calipers and then sell and ship yours to get maybe 400-500 back or just pay $400 to have the calipers you already have painted/coated.

I used the G2 on mine. No metallic, but it's something you have to look for to notice.

Well, the OP got quoted $1265 to get his painted, a far cry from the $400 you mentioned.

If it can be done for $400, sure it probably makes more sense to just have yours painted. If it costs upwards of $1300 it probably makes more sense to buy ones already painted.

powder coat will fade into oblivion if you get them too hot.The proper way to do it is high temp paint.
Agreed. The previous owner spray painted my calipers red and now the paint is chipping away. My fault though because I, you know... Drive the thing... HPDE...

If you want to learn more about hack jobs, ask me. Previous owner was down right stupid. Cut springs, heavy ass wheels, terrible stagger set up... RED CALIPERS ON A GREEN CAR! WHAT IS THIS?! CHRISTMAS?!

Doubt its from driving. Bad prep or wrong paint.
