Thinking about painting my brake calipers. Had an appointment to get it done, but it got delayed. Rather pricey. Anybody have an alternative ideas? DIY? Professionally painted? Any other ideas?

I would get them powder coated so they are properly done.

powder coat will fade into oblivion if you get them too hot.The proper way to do it is high temp paint.

What did they quote you? My 350 is Rapid Red. At shop cost, use to have body shop, my material cost was roughly $400. To be fair, the base, and mid coat for Rapid Red is very pricey. I would not powder coat, it doesn’t dissipate heat like paint. Your probably half to 2/3’s the cost for a red.

Is that you dropping off the car? Or you taking them the calipers. I probably had an honest 7-8hrs in removal, prep, spraying, and reinstalling. That included rebleeding the brakes. Doesn’t include the several grand in spray guns(don’t need high dollar guns for calipers), compressor, tools necessary, etc.

The shop quoted me $1265 for all 4.

I've done a couple sets myself. They came out great IMO as well as other people's 2 cents. G2 and some diligence. The powder coating thing sounds great but I don't like taking things apart until need be and it's costy for a part of the car that gets grimy daily.

Here's my examples.... $50 bucks, a few hours, and get back to living.

You will need new crush washers for the banjo bolts.

Define proper. IIRC Brembo only paints. Cosmetically pleasing powder-coating is not as heat tolerant. Around 400f. Paint in 4 digits. People have to use 600f fluid and rotors can get to 4 digits on track. Between radiation and conduction, calipers can get pretty hot. For street, powder-coating is fine. Same for most drivers and most tracks. Certainly good enough for me and my car but I went with G2 paint so people like me wouldn't laugh at me behind my back for my proof of slowness. ;)
