I used a pretty universal garage stool / creeper for a while.

I would say that for taller vehicles, these stools seem to be pretty good. However I found on lower cars like the Mustang or my sedans, this seat was just a touch too high, even on the lowest position, meaning I would haunch over to clean wheels.

I bought what seems to be the universal detailer's seat late last year. These are sold under a variety of brand. If I had access to the Griot's version in Australia, that would be the one to buy due to it's padded seat.

What I love about this seat is how it dips down in the middle, making it a better height for detailing, especially wheels.

If you want to burn some money, in a good way :giggle: , the Vyper Chair seems to be the new benchmark for garage stools. Not my style to be honest, I feel like they are just a bit too high.

I got this one about 6 months ago and have no issues so far. Love the head adjustment while under the car...Though it's tight with the quick jacks. Saves my neck. Stool config works well too. Decent height for cleaning rims, though a few inches too tall for perfect comfort level.

D: I was waiting for you to chime in..

Been using an old stool/chair creeper with a seat back for quite some time but when this subject comes up, I get the fever to get something more better. <laughingi>

I like the seat on the Adam's et al, but I don't need or want all the trays and stuff underneath, just a shelf is fine. Secondly, when I'm moving from wheel to wheel, I would prefer to have a seat back to grab in order to facilitate rolling to the next location while I'm dragging the double bucket cart with the other hand. A flat seat won't be as easy so I was looking at this from Traxion..whaddaya think?

The diameter of the Vyper shelf is just too large for a short-legged detailer. :-)

What I DON'T want is any chair with those crappy wheels that have a red vinyl outer shell. My driveway has gravel in the concrete and it is hell on plastic wheels.

Not sure what the Traxion's wheels are made of but they look like they'll hold up.

Throwing my hat in the ring.

Something to consider, the type having a center post and seat. If it gets hung on anything, uneven surface or trash on the floor .
Will come out from under you in a hart beat, round top or bicycle seat type

There is a bit of truth here...

While I like my HF unit that's identical to the one pictured, it got me once. I was working on one of my motorcycles last winter and went to roll around and caught something on the floor and went over.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the 6+ beers I had consumed....
