Yea basically he was being cautious with throttle input out of the corners. On a backroad I frequent thst no one lives on I've gotten .84Gs in acceleration in my 18GTPP1 and with my Mach1HP I've gotten 1.02Gs. Of acceleration coming out of a turn.
That doesn't sound right. In stock form, a GTPP does not pull that hard.
I've gotten 1.5G's cornering but no where near .8G's in acceleration.

I'm looking at my fastest Buttonwillow lap data and TrackAddicts says peak G left/right is 1.84 / 1.54 while acceleration/braking is .44 / 1.21

Is that why I struggle to keep up with Type Rs at the track?
Type R's are damn fast! Don't let the "civic" name fool you.
They also have a 700 lb weight advantage on you

I used to have a 2012 Civic Si so I know what you mean, kind of. I barely kept up with one last month and when I pushed harder, oversteer kicked in so my lap was toast. I could only just barely match him...

Trade in my base GT for a GT350??

If you can afford it, absolutely

Edit: agree with @TeeLew 's post below. Wide, sticky tires and a solid set of race pads do A LOT for mustangs at the track. After that, just address any cooling issues as needed.

It's a big job, but much less expensive to just fix the GT. Also, notice the issue was with the rear of the car when pushing, not the front.

I don't have my 18GT anymore other wise I would get a pic for you. My car wasn't stock by any means. Full Suspension work and way sticker tires then stock with lighter wheels.

no, trade it in for a Civic obviously! duh :)
your tire budget will be halved and so too your gas bill. Though the kind of bro's you'll attract may not prove helpful.

Its SportAuto, very reputable driver. Also keep in mind the older F82 M4 ran a 7:52. To be frank I was expecting better. I don't know what tires the 2021 Mach 1 gets with the non HP package. If its the PZero that could be part of it. Still somewhat underwhelming.
Michelin PS4S. 255/275 so to small for the track. Those small tires are crying. almost hurts to watch.

The second I saw a non handling pack euro spec mach 1 doing the times, I knew it was going to be bad.

It's because it was Yellow...Red ones go faster but are prone to accidents, but White ones are balanced between speed and safety. Just my 2 cents. This is based on hard science btw.
