The paint on these S550's sucks, it is too fragile... if it's looked at sideways it chips...

My 94 Cobra w/original paint has less chips on it in 27 years of highway driving than my 2018...

Driver side rear quarter right at the end of the body line that flows through the door...

Rock off a semi going the opposite direction...

So excited to get to know the collision guy with this car...

No BS, the first few days I had my 2011 GT500 I caught a rock on the front drivers side fender that looks similar. Just can't have nice things these days. I've also noticed some recent construction zones where they aren't keeping the area clean of rocks and debris...on a freeway! So annoying!!

Anyway, I hope it gets taken care of as painlessly as it can be done.

Truth man. Even my Dodge paint job which the clear coat eventually started peeling off was more chip resistant than the Ford paint jobs.

Some penny pincher somewhere calculated if they go with a 0.001 micron paint thickness, they will save millions of dollars on production cost.

It's always an adventure when you wash the car where you will find the next one.

You probably know this, but I’ll say it any way. Make sure whoever is doing the paint work is very good with a tri stage application. I wouldn’t trust the estimators opinion either, I’d want to talk to the actual painter In your situation. In the almost twenty years I had a shop I only had one tech that could do it correctly, I usually did all those applications myself. Best of luck, it’s unfortunate that happened.

If it makes ya feel better (probably not), I had my Bullitt for about 24 hours when I took a rock to the windshield and roof, on the frwy this past weekend.

I didn’t have film that high on the rear quarter. And it’s so bad the film guy wasn’t sure if film would have saved me or not.
Anyhow - the place I’m likely to take it will basically be ripping half the car apart to do the work. Rear bumper off. Trunk lid off. Quarter window out. Rear brake light out.
Like rip the car apart for these 2 little fucking nicks. I’d never buy a tri coat paint aging. Don’t care how cool it looks.
About ready to roll the fucker into a lot and toss a lit rag into the cockpit and let her burn.
Also - the paint is so thin I swear the nicks have gotten bigger from surface wind driving the car…

meh. Makes me long for the days of not having the car and flat rock being shut down… almost…

I suppose if it looks like shit I can wrap it in some bow tie loves Mopar pattern…
