the belt only needs to have enough tension not to slip. Excessive tension (tensioner basically not doing anything and he-man'ing it on) is putting a healthy amount of side-load on all the shafts and their bearings and imparting a bending force onto the SC bracketry. You want the tensioner to be approximately in the middle (or slightly tight) of it's operating range.I am willing to go that route at this point, but I am wondering what are the consequences by doing so... Less tension, less boost and potentially belt slip?
I stand by my assertion that the vendor screwed up and properly should be supplying a belt of sufficient length to cover the pully combination. The stupid thing is a pittance at $30. There is just no excuse for this.
If you want to strong-arm it anyway then I would remove one of the bolts from the SC, slip the belt over the pully then rotate the SC till you get the second bolt lined up.
