I just rented a 5.0 GT in PBI with 3K miles on it that had piston slap. Once it warmed up, it was gone.

Piston slap is not 350 specific.
Very true - my boss motor did he same. It seems that with the coolers, itā€™s a little slower to get the heat required into the pistons, on these. This is t really a problem, I guess :)

Yeah Boss engines were bad. ZR1's were noisy too.

Same here - no piston slap... even on -20 F cold starts.
You're a braver man than I Hack:lol:

Hey Tank, not sure brave is the proper word, but thanks for the benefit of the doubt! :D

Whatever I need
One thing....piston slap....it's there. I find that regardless of oil temperature, you can still faintly hear it. I find that once there's just a little heat in the motor, I start adding some load - every gear, try to get some solid load and accelerate at maybe 60%. This gets heat into the piston itself and I notice that the sound goes away in short order. These engines are setup loose with extended high-RPM runs in mind - so the pistons need room to grow a bit. On the street, sometimes it's hard to get enough heat into them.
The price paid for forged pistons, although I have not detected any piston rattle when cold. As an aside, those heavy and noisy when cold OEM TRW forged slugs in the old 5.0 circa ā€˜86-ā€˜91 did not create undue wear in the cylinders. But that was a cast iron block with a short stroke, vs a long stroke and very high piston speed (albeit with a relitively lightweight slug) within a plasma welded alloy cylinder block.

Anywho, Mod motors are known for piston stability a benefit of the relitively small bore and piston.

I have a little over 7,000 miles on mine. I had to ad 1 quart after about 1,500 miles but haven't had to add any oil since. No issues and this car puts a smile on my face every time I look at it.
My similar experience - I find as I have driven this car a bit longer - oil consumption seems to relate to back pressure - using engine compression as a brake increases blow by.

6k on my '18. I purchased new in April of '20. I have tracked the car about a half dozen times. It is my daily driver, although with COVID I am still working from home.... No issues of any kind. Upgrade, you won't regret it.

I have a serious odometer problem... when I purchased the car 24 months ago, they tried to sell me an extended warranty. I asked why? This car is NOT a daily driver and will NOT see rain. This car will NOT get driven more than 3000 - 4000 miles per year!

I believe my odometer is WAY out of calibration..... the odometer is currently showing almost 30,000 miles..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep checking to see if there is some sort of a TSB for odometer issues... nothing yet.
