Would anyone really admit they were such an attention whore that they would mod their car just to show off? Sure, it does happen, but those types tend to not like negative attention...

Was thinking of hitting up a Mustang only car show this weekend but it is going to be a billion degrees outside.
Yep, I'll be staying in the house all weekend where we keep it 65 lol

I guess it's a sign that you're getting older when you stop caring about others and start becoming somewhat more selfish. When I go to the track, I'm honestly going for me, and me alone. Not to say that I don't enjoy my friends there and hanging/talking with them, but if they're not there, I'm still wheeling the shit out of my ride, regardless if they're there or not. I still enjoy seeing and talking to them, and will cruise the pits for them should we not talk beforehand, but seeing as I have to rent a trailer in advance, take a day off of work, gas up the tow rig, fill up the jugs, and usually mount/balance tires, I'm not going to stop and turnaround just because X isn't going.

I've.done plenty of cosmetic mods under the hood, and no one has ever seen it in person, just pics on this forum.
I do it for my own enjoyment.
When I traded my orange 16 ecoboost for the lime 20 GT, one of my neigbors thought I just had it painted...........

It isn't on the waterfront this year either, so hard pass for me.
It is a pretty nice drive for me to head towards your neck of the woods too. Used to make the drive as a newish driver all the time. Can't remember the name of the little store I always used to stop at that sold swords and knives and other knickknacks.

At meets I'm used to seeing plenty of cars more "show off worthy" than mine. :) I do appreciate the opportunity to talk to enthusiasts about their cars and seeing what they've done to them. I have sometimes gotten ideas for mods, but honestly more ideas have come from online sources than meets. Cruises are fun mainly for the driving experience and there's always a couple people with ridiculously loud exhausts.

I haven't modded mine but I have a shitload of performance stickers on it and fuzzy dice if I do happen to go to a car meet. Also a velcro'd on ricer wing but that is to scare away the VTEC guys :)

I've also polished the head light lenses which makes her slip thru the air like the Enterprise at Warp 9....👍

If you never had someone to go cruising with or no car meets to go to would you still mod your car knowing that you don’t have some place to show it off or tell what you done to it.
I've been modifying cars since the mid-1960's and I never once modified one with anybody else's benefit even in mind. Never got into the cruise or car show scene, although I will walk through an occasional show that I do not enter a car into just to see what's there.

I modify for me, making anywhere from minor to extensive modifications in the car to suit what I want from it. Hell, most of the modifications I make are on the subtle side (visually), and some of the modifications that aren't as subtle don't line up with what most other people expect to see, anyway.

It all comes together for me in the driving.

My car is bone stock as far as looks go and get's lots of compliments. Maybe even more than my Laguna Seca did. However, the only mods are to make it faster around a track (hopefully). The driver mod needs more seat time over any other mods.

Mods are to make my driving experience better. Not to impress others. Mustangs are great stock but a personal touch is better.
