That’s not a very exciting explanation. Can’t you come up with a conspiracy theory to get this thread really going?!Condensed version:
1. Covid shutdowns/slowdowns
2. Auto industry cut back on their chip orders at the start of the pandemic (forecasting poor sales)
3. Everyone and their grandmother going remote/streaming/zoom/WfH (lots of increased demand in devices and hardware that need chips)
4. Increased capacity costs billions and takes 18+ months to spin up
5. Long drought conditions in Taiwan (further straining the ability to make chips)
6. Auto industry tries to order chips, but are waiting in line now because they are low man on the totem pole
Thank you Snoopy.It is open.
Understood, but my source (who works there) is saying otherwise. When this goes down, I have no idea. I will continue to press for answers.Thank you Snoopy.
It can be frustrating when a thread gets somewhat derailed, so for those that may have missed it, here is the reply we were all waiting for.
Later, please. I have a few things I'd like to revise...Have you ever considered being born sooner?
The instant the "source" was determined to be a UAW person - all credibility died, IMHO. Maybe I'm reading that wrong tho... But the UAW folks haven't had the best trackrecord for the accuracy of their "leaks" and statements...I hope you are right, he is now looking for a UAW document to back it up.
He can identify as being older, bam problem solved!Have you ever considered being born sooner?
Folks, due to the possible outcome this may have for all those waiting on MY 21 vehicles, I asked my source to yesterday please corroborate his information, to get me something I that I can use to prove this information. I gave him yesterday to come up with something, but nothing came. This morning I pressed this individual to the point, and he had nothing. So at this point in time, I am going to have to agree with @Snoopy49 and chalk it up to a rumor. My two centavos..
Tom has a proven reliable source(s) and if this one has a perfect track record, I wouldn't be too quick to discount it.
