When you install Windows, the TOS doesn't say "also enables Bitlocker by default".
if Windows encrypts your HD without asking you that IS cause for a lawsuit. That Lund encrypts the ECu comes as a surprise to anyone is also exceedingly bad faith on Lund's part and deserving of legal hotwater.

BitLocker Encryption is enabled, by default, on computers that support Modern Standby. This is true regardless of the Windows 10 version (Home, Pro, etc.) is installed.

You may wanna do some reading. In case you DIDNT know, your phone (both Android and iOS) are ALSO encrypted by default.

I emailed lund Thursday ask if they would tune via MPVI2 because that's what I have. The reply I got was at the moment we don't support MPVI2 because we can't lock our tunes. I hope they will be able to soon
I'm about to go FI this winter. Are you guys saying that a Tune You pay allot of money for your car is Locked by Lund? Unless Lund or anyone else helps pay for my tune, I will not buy a tune which is locked. That is absolutely crazy for anyone to agree to.

Lund not only locks the tune they also scramble the OSID( operating system identification)

Buyer beware.

Many better options out there.
If you buy a Lund tuned car and don't get the flasher no one except Lund can return your car to stock, at a price. You have to buy a flasher and a stock tune from Lund.

Then start over.

Not even Ford can re-flash a Lund tune

One of the reasons Lund dropped SCT support is SCT claims ownership of any and all tunes written on their platform.

Man I'm glad my nGauge still works. Not sure I would want to mess with the RTD.

I guess all of a sudden there are going to be a bunch of standalone engine management tuners.......

With Lund you are paying for experience and knowledge. Same with anyone else that "locks" the tune.......

Lund can lock their tunes all they want as long as my car continues to preform the way it has for the last 48k miles. Plus their customer support is top notch. Even long after the tuning is finished. They are the best name in the game for a reason.

Every tune I had for my 2006 GT (3 different tuners over the years) was locked for editing. That doesn't bother me at all as it's their intellectual property.

However, I don't like the idea of the PCM being encrypted where if the tuning device fails, I can't flash it with a new device/tune unless I go through the tuner.

Does PBD encrypt the PCM as well?

As far as I know only Lund encrypts the ECU.

I don't care if the tune cannot be read either. But scrambling the address's so it cannot be erased is next to criminal IMO.

Just viewing this thread and have a few comments. Not looking to argue, just want to share my experience.

I had an old SCT X4 and contacted Lund. They wrote a 93, Flex and straight E85 tune for my 2018 10R80 which was otherwise stock. Just like any other tunes I have purchased over the years, I was able to load any of the tunes from them and still return the car to stock with no issues. I personally wasn't that impressed with the whole process, especially Alex. I didn't notice any real differences from the canned SCT tune. Just my experience.

When I put the Procharger on, the HO kit came with an Ngauge. Ran excellent and added some stuff like injectors, pulley BAP, etc and contacted PBD. That was a very good experience. We datalogged the car and it runs just excellent.

So, unless something changes, I have no need for Lund.

The problem with Lund is IF your X4 or whatever quits working you cannot put your car back to stock without buying another device and tune from Lund.

Where this tends to bite people is when buying a used car and then trying to tune it or get an ECU update from Ford.

I was always under the impression that you better not lose your tuner if it had the stock tune file on it. I suppose it could be downloaded onto a laptop or something.

So, what I am getting is that IF this stock file was lost, Ford couldn't just reset the CPU? If that is the case, not good.
