2015 gt engine lock

Drove car home at night perfectly fine, started it up the next day amd was mis firing pretty bad. Had a buddy hook up his scanner and said cylinder 2 and 4 were misfiring. Checked it out and all seemed fine. After a couple times of starting it. The engine finally made a loud metal noise and turned off and locked. He believes it is the cam gear phaser that caused it, any ideas??? Thanks in advance

Ideas? Yes, start looking for a new engine... It's an interference engine, loud metal clunk while running probably means bent valves and damaged/broken pistons.

Could have dumped in a ton of fuel, and hydro-locked maybe? Long shot, but crap happens.
