Ok, this is driving me bonkers. Line Lock on the GT V-8 Automatic Transmission.
Only ONE You-Tube video I found showing how to INITIATE and then ENGAGE Line Lock. It was on a manual transmission posted by a private individual.

My V-8 is an Automatic Tranny. I have the option available under TRACK APPS (Don't have Launch Control option~ which makes sense)

According to the OnLine Manual, there are 3 Line Lock stages. INITIATE-ENGAGED-OFF

I can get mine to INITIATE - no problem

When I hold the brake down FIRMLY and wait for the bar gauge indicator to reach the top, (So that I can press OK and have the front brakes hold the care) it never does get to the top (no matter how hard I push the brake down), and I never get the 15 second Line Lock CountDown indicator to appear (No warning message either - no nothing).

Took it to the Dealer, and the "Mustang Expert Tech" was out today. Really? The sales guy hasn't played with this yet? I would have thought that would be the FIRST option every middle aged salesman would have played with on their smoke breaks. Nobody knew ANYTHING about this feature.

My Question:
Anyone out there with an Automatic Tranny that has got this Line Lock thing to work?
According to the YouTube posting and video, it is tricky, but I cannot even get the 15 second Timer to appear.
:( Are Automatic Transmissions outta luck?

BTW, new user here so cut me some slack and slap me if this question has been answered.

I have engaged it but never burned the tires..but I could here/feel the front brakes lock and let them skid the ground a little...once u press the break all way down and then hold OK till it engages

Hey - on your automatic, did you ever get to the 15 second countdown Icon?
Depressing the brakes FULLY - the bar graph never reaches the top and the 15 second Clock Icon never appears.

Press down as hard as u can on the breaks Then hit ok...that's what I do and it says ready and gives me the 15 second countdown. Then when I hit OK it releases

I own a 13 ss Auto
A 12 sRT manual
A 14 Shelby 663HP Mule with a 6 spd.
had an 11 GTCS auto

Unless you are a professional driver - there is no way you can get 1/4 miles times with a stick like you can with the auto. No Way. If you say you can, you are fooling yourself.

Everyday driving, when that wingnut in in R/T comes up next to you, nothing like stomping on it and instantly being in the right gear. The new tranny is flawless.

I screwed up with the SRT - I should have got the Auto.
The Performance Pkg would be ideal on the GT Auto- but not available with the auto unless you go with the 50th Aniv Edition.

Yeah I agree, my S4 has the DSG and its very quick on the shifts up and down. MY previous cars were stick but I got tired of shifting lol.. I guess I'm getting older and lazier.

Far from it. The ZF8 in the Challenger will run circles around the 6R80.

Remote start is awesome to have too. Although idk if you'll get as much use in Texas unless u just do it for fun

If it's hot, it'll turn on the seat coolers to max and get the A/C chilling, so I'd say it'd be pretty damn useful in Texas (it is here in Florida for sure) :D

Over on the Challenger forums the ZF8 is also far from reliable, there are downshift issues, issues with it being in the wrong gear and shifting at the wrong time. Was really hoping it was bullet proof.

That's a shame, it must be programming, because the BMW calibration is unbelievable. It's DCT performance with the smoothness of a slushbox.

Love the auto - optional 3.55 rear end makes it perfect.

I debated and drove both. Always bought stick before, but with 6 speed auto and the traffic in Austin as bad as it is, I went auto.
