I'd have had a challenger scat pack if they were available in Australia. I love the look of that car. The camaro is too wannabe sports car. I wanted a muscle car.

I prefer 1st and 2nd gen Camaros to Mustangs. After that, Mustang all the way.
I'd take a Smokey & the Bandit T/A (or similar vintage Camaro) over a '78 Mustang II any day of the week.

I just don't notice any change of being able to see when driving my 2021 LT1. I guess years of driving C6's and a 7 did that to me. I just don't notice a change.

Yeah, Gen 2 Mustang really should be stricken from the record. I would allow GM the same with the Gen 4 FBody.

Because I could get a semi-comparable Mustang for $12,000 less than the Camaro.

With that kind of money, I can more than makeup the difference in performance and still have money left over.

  • 1st gen Boss 302 Mustang over 1st gen Z28 Camaro here (AAR Cuda over both of them, though)
  • 3rd gen Camaro over Fox Mustang. Camaro over Firebird.
  • 4th gen Camaro/Firebird over SN95 Mustang, as long as I never have to touch the engine or deal with Optispark
  • S197 over early 5th gen Camaro
  • Boss/Boss LS S197 Mustang and 5th gen 1LE Camaro . . . toss-up. 5th gen Z28 over both (and yes, I'd be just fine daily-driving it)

6th gen SS/1LE and the Mach 1, no clear preference yet

On the 2nd generation cars, the Camaro always seemed too big and too heavy (~4000 lbs in the case of a friend's 402-powered '71), and the Mustang II was really just a bigger and softer Pinto (which BTW could be made into a solid sport subcompact long before Honda got into that game). No real Mustang/Camaro preference.

To be fair, accountant have as much (if not more) to do with the final product as the engineers. If I had an unlimited budget and no rules to follow, the MikMobile (Trademark held by MikCorp Automotive) would be the greatest car ever built.
