Hey Guys,

This is about to be my only car. 2018 GT PP1.... has 12,200 miles on it. I have the 2k rattle and. BBQ Tick for sure. I filmed this video tonight after driving home from work.

Are there any sounds in this video that would concern you about the car? Not sure if I have any form of piston slap or anything to be scared about.

I know you can’t see anything but this is with the phone inside the right front wheel. Like I said I like to worry about a lot of things and this is going to be my only car. I appreciate any feedback guys! Thank you!

Sounds normal to me... I have the tick and I don't hear it in your video.

Thank you very much all of you for the feedback! I'm going to enjoy the car and just drive the heck out of it. Appreciate the encouragement from all of you.

I wanted to revisit this thread after I took this video today of my car. It sounds it’s worst ironically right after a WARM start.

You can hear in this video it almost sounds like it’s ticking like crazy right? Or is it in my head?

I always have the 2k rattle and it’s pretty annoying, but on throttle the car sounds fantastic and healthy.

On a cold start there’s hardly any tick or anything.

What do you guys think?

Don't listen to anything here. We all have the same 'issues' and everything is wonderful.

One of the noises I could pinpoint was (maybe?) this one: http://latemodel.cachefly.net/downloads/instructions/19-2144.pdf

The above TSB even has videos to compare to.
Thank you everyone for the responses to my latest post. It definitely makes me feel better. I’m really glad you posted this TSB @mustangpegasus51. I definitely feel like this was more than just the BBQ tick... sounds like a bit of a knocking noise. It matches exactly what this TSB says. My video was when it’s at its worst... after a warm start.

Is it possible the fact it's in a garage amplifies, the timing, cam drive chains, roller rockers, and the aluminum block, just might make a wee bit of noise ?

Having a car with roller rockers, hydraulic lifters, has a similar sound. But there are only 16, the mustang has 32, so it thrashes more.

Sounds solid and ready

The trouble here is many are driving a performance car and are clueless of the noise that comes with it.

Just saying

Hey OP, just heard your second video with my earbuds (near full volume), and now I could hear what I think is the infamous 'tick'. But just faintly. You need to make a new recording, BUT with the hood open, and place the microphone next to the engine (as low as you can), and on both sides. If it's the tick, it should be pretty obvious that way. Good luck.
