Hey all,

First day here. Just bought a 16 GT yesterday that has a flow master outlaw on it from what I can tell, and either it’s the full catback or the axle back with another aftermarket non resonated H pipe.

My problem is I love the sound, but the drone and volume is too much to handle.

What are some budget friendly solutions to this problem? A new full exhaust might be something down the line, but would prefer to keep it simple and cheap for now. So I’m guessing adding a resonator to the mix would be a good solution, but I’m completely new to the platform.

Thanks!

Simple and cheap solution is find a stock catback or suitcase and sell the Outlaw to offset the cost. Better, more expensive solution is Corsa catback :like:

SLP LOUDMOUTH II. Zero drone. Zero rasp. Nice deep bassy sound at idle or full send with my H-pipe / gutted felines. Just my .02.

Oh duh. Just found a full stock system nearby for 40 bucks. Sounds like a perfect temporary solution swapping either the mid pipe or axle back until a new full system is in the cards.

Outlaw is basically a muffler delete. I have the Pypes version with stock resonator and there's still some drone but its pretty minimal. So either replace the midpipe with a resonated one or get an axle back with real mufflers.

Yup! I have the FLOWMASTER Outlaw direct replacement muffler on my '16 Ram Sport rcsb 4X4 and it has some serious drone.

Just add a couple of Vibrant resonators and you can keep most of the tone you like while taming it down. They aren't that expensive.

Drone is mostly a result of the muffler (or lack there of) used. The mid pipe solution would just amplify it. Changing your axle back is the for sure way. The AWE setup above is definitely a good option. The Vibrants won't do much for drone but would reduce volume and some rasp. A MF Tru X will kill the sound almost completely stock like if that is what you are looking for.

this, I added some amazon cheapo resonators to my exhaust setup(LT's, Steeda H, FRPP/Borla AB), no drone. FTR the SLP LM2's will drone with LT's & any aftermarket mid pipe. They were my 1st AB.
