The F150 is largely the reason the Coyote exists at all, the Mustang is a niche product in comparison....

It certainly would have but as you pointed out Ford, from a corporate/financial point of view, doesn't really care much for our Mustang. We need to realize at this point the Mustang name is a brand tool. Instead of berating Ford for their shortcomings we should be grateful we are getting cars like the Bullitt and Mach 1. At least someone is listening up there.

That simply put, is bullshit. How do we know? They made the GT350, the GT500, the Bullitt, the Mach1, and they keep on coming. Ford DOES care about the Mustang (the car, and the brand), or we wouldn't have even what we have now.

No, the Model T made Ford. The Model A made Ford bigger. The Mustang was just one other car that helped Ford keep the Ford nameplate.

also Jim Owens mentioned that Mach-1 would be limited allocation which I highly doubt, does this mean it would also be limited to single mode year? I'd hate if there were ADMs on it like the Shelbys

It will be similar to the Bullitt.
There will be ADMs at first, but they will go away in a couple months.

Whilst they've not mentioned how many model year the Mach 1 will run for, with S650 coming as a '23MY, we can expect Mach 1 for both the '21 and '22MY.

It'll be interesting to see if Mach 1 is seen again with the S650. I still think making the V8 hybrid a Mach 1 makes sense, at least in terms of aligning with the Mach E.

Not trying to be mean but no one was running to ford dealers in the late 60's and 70's for a model T. The mustang and bronco saved ford. Same how the F150 is saving ford now.

If you're only looking at sales numbers, the Galaxy 500 carried Ford's water in the 60's and the Granada / Pinto / Maverick triumvirate in the 70's. Taurus and Escort in the '80s and '90s, along with the Explorer when it first appeared. And the F-150 has just always been there. Mustang has always been a low to mid-level volume "me" car in a portfolio of "we" cars that sold hundreds of thousands of copies each.

The way Owens described it, they will not be responding to customer orders, but would be filling dealer allocations. So it sounds like the same approach as Shelby models, where if you want one, you have to find a dealer with allocation. GT350 survived 5 years in that mode. GT500 will likely go through the rest of S550 in that mode, so no reason Mach I wouldn't also ride through the rest of S550.

I'll bet dollars to donuts the 'enhanced' A10 in the Mach1 came straight out of the Raptor effort. Would be nice if the 3.5EB was avail in Mustang but with unit numbers getting lower by the day 2 engine choices will be all that can be justified. The 3.5EB in my F150 hauls ass. The A10 'sport' mode gear-change surge is noticable in a the F150, I don't know why they thought they could just carry over that malarky to the 500lb lighter Mustang and people not object.

Grrrrrrr. I have been working towards one damn goal for many many years, and every lined up, despite floods, and unexpected kids, and medical emergencies, and many many other issues that point to some piss poor luck. If I cannot get my hands on a 2021 without some stupid ADM I'll be rather pissed. In the config I want. I can't buy local because our dealers are shit, they sell GTs with ADM (mustangs, not the GT GT).

I like my D4 because it's like a proper 6-sp tranny. The Tremec is like a 5-sp one with a deep OD; the gap is HUGE. But depends what you want it for, I guess. And yes, I suspect Ford will leave it identical, which would be great, since it's rater for more power than the Mach1 will make.

As far as 'limited' production, it's just marketing crap. Heck, Ford didn't even keep its word with the $400K+ GT, making a lot more (and for more years) than they originally said. So who's going to believe they'd do it with a freaking Mustang? Yeah, right! . They'll make as many as they can sell. The only good news I see is they should avoid the Bullitt fiasco, making A LOT more than the demand. They need to make just enough to avoid ADMs, and to avoid them sitting in dealer lots. Of course COVID exacerbated the problem, but they still made more than they should IMO. The good news is I wouldn't have justified paying near sticker, so the only reason I own one was because of that, so I don't mind in my case. Ha ha.
