Totally disagree. I have not had the '71 Mach but the '70 Torino cobra with the 429 CJ. Those cars handled like a barge. The '71 Mustang was almost the exact weight, etc. And, they did not have the RPM ability of the Coyote. Totally, completely apples and oranges. With some mods perhaps. No way those cars can do 11s unless they had a lot of help. I've drag raced them including the Ford 427 MR. Torque band is too narrow and too limited. Great engines, mind you, but the coyote is truly a race engine and would completely embarass virtually any close to stock muscle car of the era. Even with good tires.and the mach 1 isn't a marketing trick for collectors? like the Bullitt?.
I don't have a dodge because I don't really care for them. I have a Mach 1. That is why I am on a mustang board. I fully intend to get a new Mach 1 in less than a year. I also have...6 other Fords right now.
And, just an FYI, a 71 429 mach 1 car is only a second slower than this car is going to be if it holds the 480 hp in the 1/4. and that was with bias tires. literally replace tires and the 71 mach can outrun the current cars. God forbid you actually un-restrict that motor like Ford intended for it to be done.
Sure thing. I just caught the grey performance pack one driving by.Thanks for the picture!
Yes, the performance version is jet fighter gray. I just posted a pic of it.@Arknsawchuck, what color was the HP car that is in Tulsa? Was it the gray?
Wondering if it's light as shown in the Ford press pics, which looks like Avalanche on some GT350s (or lighter), or somewhere in between Avalanche and Lead Foot as it seems to be in this pic:
Wow, that is Jet Figther grey?Sure thing. I just caught the grey performance pack one driving by.

if I weren't all about race red, that might be the color I'd go after. it is interesting and unique.
I like the color just not thrilled about that rear spoiler. If I get one I think I’ll get the non handling pack. I won’t ever track it and the handling pack tires would be unnecessary for my use and too expensive to replace. The main reason wanting a Mach 1 is that Tremec. I liked the Tremec in my Camaro when I had it. I miss a manual transmission but won’t ever get another MT-82.Sure thing. I just caught the grey performance pack one driving by.
how was the sound?Sure thing. I just caught the grey performance pack one driving by.
It sounded pretty good, just not loud enough as usual..lolhow was the sound?
Why?, it’s just a number on a piece of paper. Besides the announcement said “projected”. We do not know what the final number will be. If is turns out to be 500 whoopee, you just got another 4%. Not worth writing home about. Not having it hit 500, or at least more than the Bullitt, is kinda silly.
