well you do get performance out of 93 so if you take the mindset that pretty much anyone would pay that for a modification to get that horsepower

You get performance yes. Unlike other mods where you pay for it once, you pay every time you fill up with fuel.

Food for thought...would you spend $1200 on a modification that gives you 10hp and a near negligible 1/4 mile performance gain? Most people would be laughed at for paying such a high price for such little gains.

I'd change to a different gas station or take your car in for service. Your car should not be knocking on 87 octane.

Except it’s not. Premium won’t make your engine run longer or cleaner than 87.

If you run 87 just trade your car in for a v6 from when they still made those. You really dont deserve a 12 to 1 compression v8 that revs to 7500+. Another option is get on e85 which is cheaper than 87..

No knocks with 93, and I am fine with that. Just wondering if something is wrong because when I ran 87 my GT had knocks.

I just have issues with all those GT owners reporting no knocking with 87.

Ford's wording is open to interpretation, I think. I don't interpret it as "use 91 only if you want the utmost performance", I read it as 91 is recommended, with some general reasoning given. I read the 87 thing being as part of the point that you don't go below that, not that 87 is recommended.

I would say the 87 statement is more for marketing friendly to lure in buyers. I sold 8 month old Ecoboost to buy my GT because Ecocrap was so lame after having driven wife's Porsche 718 Cayman 2.0T. The 718 is more thrilling to accelerate because it feels like all the hell is breaking loose in the back -- it sounds and accelerates like a racing car. I don't quite get that in my GT. Perhaps with GT 350 but with the price range I'll go with the new Corvette.
