Looks like Throttlehouse is doing a GT500 vs ZLE vs Redeye at Willow Springs with Jason Cammisa and M6G's favorite Randy Pobst. Get your tinfoil hats ready!

Also looks like Edmunds released the second half of that test:

That track test was a joke.

A- professional road test drivers who do more acceleration runs than you do on an annual basis, GPS hardware accurate to the 100th of a second and 10th of a mph, using level testing facilities for repeatable results are acceptable for comparison to other vehicles tested in similar conditions. These values are not indicative of the maximum possible potential of the vehicles on an excellently prepped surface.

Noone has ever tried to argue what you typed out up there.
What makes them professional road trst drivers? They ever set record or compete professionally? Didnt think so

Again, show me a 1/4 mile timeslip from a random section of road. Until then, 1/4 mile, comes from a dragstrip

Otherwise its a streetrace, and we already know how the boomers feel about that

to?

tire sidewall is a component of suspension, sure but I'd much rather fix the ACTUAL problem. Or not have the problem in the first place.
the shocks on the 1LE are not a problem, they are one of the things that make that car unique.

I switched to the tried and true PSP4s and the difference is night and day.
I'm doing the same with my R in the spring.

they get PAID to do it. They could be the worst drivers in the world and never even set food on a piece of prepared tarmac and still be professionals. The one guy does all their unprepared drag starts. Me thinks he's probably pretty good at it since he's done it for all cars ever to be tested - orders of mag more than most racer boys have ever attempted.

I'm out of town so can't check, but I could have sworn my ZLE's stick out a tad with the 325s. Might be wrong...

I didn't realize it was illegal either. Just if the OEM does it probably?
you are correct, stock tires on the ZLE do stick out past the fenders.

It will be nice when someone else takes delivery and shares impressions of the 500. The Big Daddy Don Garlits point of view is a bit stale.

These are paid test drivers for the magazines. These runs aren't done by the writers of the columns.

I'm sure if they wanted, they could export the data from their Vbox and print it onto a narrow slip of paper for you.

Yup its not because the GT500CFTP lost to the ZL1/1LE on track and even with the skidpad numbers but it was a joke because it didn’t take advantage of the GT500’s 760 HP DTC to let it stretch its legs right?

Elaborate
The test was misleading and borderline meaningless. A 36 second run around a parking lot hardly constitutes a track test. I've been on autocross courses that were larger and faster than that. Just like in autocross, the car with the stickiest tires won the slow trip around the cones. We've all seen the GT500 CFTP hang with a GT3RS on a real track, however the 2019 ZL1 1LE with the 10 speed automatic lost out by 4 seconds to a GT3RS in the 2019 Lightning Lap in a head to head competition. Just a shame the GT500 wasn't available for them when they did the test as they had asked for it as well as the C8 Corvette prior to the test day.

The big difference in the LL being 3.4 sec slower for the zl1 1le, they were different drivers. That alone could make a huge difference.

Well we know that all the c/d editors drive all the cars at lightning lap, but you're right in that there are numerous variables. I pointed this out to say that we have the following three tests so far.

1. ZL1 1le beats GT500 CFTP around glorified autox track
2. GT500 CFTP barely loses to GT3RS around actual race track
3. ZL1 1le loses to GT3RS around actual race track

Given 2 and 3, it makes me question the validity of 1 and only makes me more upset at the poor comparison test they did and the lack of a real head to head track test between the two on the same day.
