It ran after the full repaving 100% certain .

It ran in late 2015 after the big repaving that happened in 2014 so it took full advantage of the widening . The facts stand as they are that the motortrend CFTP 500 time is faster than the factory ACR time on the same VIR course.
Did you watch the video? There were other cars on the track when he set his time. He had to wait a couple times to get around other cars. You think that is comparable to a pro driver on a closed course where there the only car?
Also at end of video, it was said his best lap on a cold 40 degree day after 10 heat cycles was 1:55.6

I am not sure when the ACR lapped VIR however, the VIR repaves and track limit extensions were easily worth more than a second per lap. Probably more like 2+ seconds on VIR full. The repaving alone gave a lot more surface grip let alone the two wider corners. The caveat is that track surface changes fluctuate over time so who knows how grippy VIR is now vs. the year of the repave? Add in the fact that temperature and how green the track is can can change lap times by another 2 seconds and you cannot legitimately compare lap times that were done in two different years. Yes, you can get a sense if 2 cars are in the same league per se, but not which one would be faster on the same track at the same time.

This isn't conjecture.... anyone familiar with track days and racing will have seen these variables many many times.
Stop it. LOL Cmon it doesnt matter how far apart the times were on here.

Years? Pfft doesnt matter.
Different track? Pfft doesnt matter.
Widening and sections changed? Pfft doesnt matter.

It blows my mind people claim this is apple to apples. But Ohhhhhh no people freak out if you ask for a test close together or same day really.

Yapping but but butt the times faster when the track is different is asinine.

It does matter to a certain extent. Can be the same car different day/time and they are slower or faster like the GT.

The GT tried it again in 2018 and came in slower with the same MY car. 2.5 seconds slower. According to this thread the GT "Destroyed" the GT with older time.

Anybody know why the gt500 in test had roll cage in the test car? Do the CFTP come that way?
The same reason GM adds a roll bar and 5 point racing harness to every corvette and Camaro they are validating and testing on the track....safety. If your going to call BS on Ford for doing this, then you need to throw every track record GM has set in their vehicles in the trash as well.

Ford most likely provided their press vehicles from the Vegas event which already had them installed.

These are mag test, not record breaking testing. Show me a mag test where gm cars have roll cages.

Why does it matter? Both manufacturers use them. They don’t improve track times and actually are detrimental to both 1/4 mile and track due to the added weight. It’s obvious these were put in for the Vegas event and simply left in place. I’d venture to say these will be left in for all magazine tests and then crushed with the cars when they are finished.

It doesn’t matter to me, but I know for a fact if the shoe was on the other foot, everyone here would be blasting the GM car and saying they brought a ringer. You know that as true. Plus, cages do add rigid
To cars.

Hey man, you just don't get it do you? It is CRITICAL that we collectively determine which car is best car. This is serious business.
I thought this sh!t was settled. The Hyundai Volester won! Road & Track said so.:like:

Again, GM has been putting rollbars, racing seats and 5 point harness in their test vehicles for years. No one on Fords side has been complaining.

As for rigidity, they only help if the base structure is flimsy. Considering the suspension on these vehicles are precisely tuned to the chassis, these structures aren’t doing shit for performance.

I know. This has to be decided b4 the C8 comes out so all of the whining will stop once and for all. So if the GT500 is better it will because of the posters on here, not because of some time tests by some magazines. What do they know?

I've lost the will to drive my Mustang or order a Corvette after reading this nonsense.
