2020 GT500 CFTP Destroys C8 Corvette - Motortrend Comparison Review

Last three cars.. C7/Z51, Miata, GT350.. And I’m the fanboy. You hate Ford and yet come here just because your upset that a Mustang defeated Chevys new halo mid engine supercar.

I hate Ford hence why I have a 19 F150 (3 previous F150s) and owned 2 GT350s, a Focus ST. I. Probably forgetting a Ford in there and not to mention many other brands. I actually hate GM so go figure.

I hate how lax Ford has become with their QC/reliability and CS. They are replacing engines at a high rate across the line of their cars/trucks. I loved my GT350 and would’ve never gotten rid of it if both of mine weren’t pieces of shit in that regard.

Where did I say I was upset about that? You guys make me laugh. When are you getting your GT500 and posting your videos of kill after kill on track?

When the Z06 beats the GT500 on track what will all of you guys say? It’s evolution and the game that has been played for decades between manufacturers. Of course the GT500 beats the ZL1, just as it beat the GT350. And on and on.

I actually just contacted MacMulkin today to put a deposit on a C8 Z06. But maybe I will change my mind and get a GT500 instead. I don’t pay ADM and usually wait a bit and after the last Z06 fiasco I should probably wait a bit to see what issues pop up. But the heart wants what the heart wants.

Pretty much what I said for both. No way I’d pay ADM on either and let the early adopters find the first problems.

That’s why I like MacMulkin. No ADM on any Corvette and no dealer fees and it’s 3 hours from my house. Honestly I like my manuals so I’m not sure I’m ready to give it up for a GT500 or C8 Z06. At the rate C7 Z06’s are dropping they could be a huge bargain as long as I get a manual. Or ZR1. Prices are really dropping on those too.

And that is where the value per dollar gets hard to evaluate in these discussions. Any one that has been in the game for awhile knows it will be a pain the ADM ass to get your hands on Ford’s special Mustangs/GT generally speaking. If you wait for Chev/BMWs and others new cars they will be discounted fairly quickly if one waits.

Agreed about the manual. I was disappointed to read it wouldn’t be offered in a manual. Also disappointed it come with the Fusion like gear shifter and not even a grip that you can shift with if you don’t like using the paddles for manual shifts.

And as heavy as they are, the still kick the crap out of the C8 in both real 1/4 mile testing (dragstrip) and around the track.

What MT Posted is the the C8 was faster in the 1/4 mile @11.1 sec.

But the Mustang guys said the ZL1 has 650hp and the GT350 only had 526hp so of course the ZL1 will win. Now it is the other way around. The GT500 has 265hp more horsepower and it barely beat the C8.

I don't have that much on C6 and have never talked to you there. I was mainly active on BimmerPost for years as I've had more M3/4s than either Ford or my lone GM purchase in the last 30 years. Again, do some research as you look like the idiot you always are/wherever you are.

And 9s, like 9.97 in your sig is what you are bragging about? I'd edit it to say barely 9s.

The Corvette and the Mustang has never competed, it was always a win for Corvette. The soon to be LT5 755hp Camaro will be the direct competitor to the GT500 but a lot lighter.

It's a fun comparison, but not particularly useful or meaningful. For all practical purposes, they aren't retail competitors since the GT500 is essentially unavailable to most people due to low production and asinine markups (which then takes the GT500's price materially higher than a nice $70-$75K C8 z51).

We all know the GT500 runs 10.6 or better in the quarter mile.
