do o think the vast majority will go through with their DEPOSITS? As in “earnest money?

Heck yes! The thing is awesome. And in many ways, it’s rebellious attitude is much more Mustang-like than the sterile Mach-E will ever be.

I am not much into Tesla cars. But I’d buy the Cybertruck today if I wasn’t saving my pennies for a GT500 CFTP.

I can imagine a substantial number of Mach E reservations were cancelled in favor of the Cybertruck. It’s a hit with the younger crowd as well. It looks cool and does everything better than Fords electric SUV. It’s a street legal batmobile. not only can soccer mom Debby take her kids to the game, stop for groceries, and get her nails done, she can drive the quad when she’s in a tight spot. It’s ridiculously full of awesome.

There will be region specific modifications, but it should remain faithful to what was seen demonstrated. Working, well built Cybertrucksc are running around. But if an f-150 is good enough with it’s sharp edges and tough exterior, cybertruck wont need to change much.

The only reason for any blip in stock is the shock factor. It’s radical. It’s not “safe.” It’s exciting and the Tesla cars aren’t like that. There is also a reason that Tesla stock is higher now. Pre-orders=confidence. Cybertruck has been a stock boost and all signs point to success.

The Mach E is just sad and sterile in comparison. Too safe. And anything wearing the Mustang name or Mach trim should not be losing the cool factor contest to Tesla. Just another reason this whole thing is lame.
How many pick-up trucks have you owned in the past?

Care to explain why the "cyber truck" is awesome. To me it was a big joke and we all know the actual truck won't be anything like what rolled out. The cybertruck looks like it was meant for Hollywood teenagers, who cant be caught in a small EV because it is not as safe as a big EV.

Lol be serious. We have been endlessly trolling you and many others by simply posting a photo with it's name, Mustang, and yall are losing your shit lol. From the seven pages novels to the endless attacks the butt hurt is strong with you and the others that can't get over a simple name. It has been pretty hilarious for me and others to so easily get under your skin with a photo and one word. I'm not sure why you and the rest of the butt hurt crew think we care about your opinions just like you don't care about ours. No matter how much how a temper tantrum you throw Ford is not changing the name so move on with your life. This thread was hijacked and ruined by the butthurt long ago and you won't move on so we will continue with the trolling.

MUSTANG

LOL

YOU TROLLS are seen for what you are.
No one is losing anything other than a few minutes to type out a coherent and proper response to the trolls.

It’s actually been for good. Some great, eye opening posts have been generated in response to your trollish ness. Posts that solidify the reasoning behind an SUV not being a Mustang.

after reviewing the enormous entirety of this thread, the consensus is:

1) the ESUV is pretty nice. Looks good and is slated to perform well.

2) it’s not a Mustang, no matter what the badge says. a Mustang is a sports CAR. partial electric, no electric, fully electric, etc. is a long hood/short deck, free spirited sports car to enthuse the masses.

3) Ford will likely rebrand in a couple years of this direction even lived to production.

4) the Mach E looks like old news compared to Tesla’s cybertruck, which is its real competition - not Camaro, Hellcat, etc.

5) any vehicle that gets completely outshined by an electric truck is definitely not cool enough to wear the Mustang badge. Never mind the Mach badge.

Hope you aren’t too hurt by the consensus. watching you and a couple of your stragglers reducer to posting SUV pics and snickering kind of makes us feel bad for you.

kinda.

you mean other than the fact it can do anything my other trucks can do, only better? The fact that it’s an unexpected futuristic take on the truck concept? The awesome lighting? The built in ramp? The way it seems like a VERY roomy SUV inside? You may not like the style, but art is subjective. I think it’s awesome. And art is my thing. The cybertruck is going to grow on people in a huge way and it’s already taken WAY more pre-orders than the Mach - E.

and that’s really the context of my enthusiasm for the Mach E. Not that I’m all excited about electric vehicles.

but in the context of electric coming in hot and American automakers showing signs of not knowing what to do (like cannibalizing icons to sell an electric SUV), the cybertruck is brilliant. It makes a big splash on the scene, has the specs to throw down with any and every competitor, has ITS OWN STRONG IDENTITY, and has thought of things that should have been in trucks for years already.

it’s a great move and will sell like mad.

the Mach E had the potential to do the same. But ford doesn’t get it. And with the current admin, they never will until they they get their clocks cleaned by upstarts - or the admin changes.

You ever been to an auto show...? You seem overly impressed by a concept vehicle....

The MACH-E is a CUV, like the Escape. The Explorer is a SUV. Different classes. And thank you for commenting about its appearance separately from the naming issue.

No one here is arguing this point. We all agree that this was a horrible choice by Ford. The only difference is that some of us are getting past it (at least a little bit) and other are selling all there Fords and moving to the Arctic.

3) Ford will likely rebrand in a couple years of this direction even lived to production.
I hope you are wrong. Now that they got their marketing splash I hope Bill Ford turns his brain and his heart back on and removes the name before the first vehicle is delivered. They have the time.

Comparing a CUV to a full size pickup just doesn't make sense. No one ever when out to buy an Escape, RAV4, CR-V, or CX-5 and came home with a F-150. The real competitors are the Model 3 and Y. It least the Mach-E is real, something the Cybertruck is not, yet.

I have an idea. How about when the first Mach-E hit the dealers we all get together, have some beers and go for a test ride? I'll bring my GT/CS.

Ding, ding, ding....

Exactly what I’ve posted in this very thread about that “Cybertruck”... it was nothing more than a pure PR grandstand to get attention at and to Tesla (conveniently after the piss poor no surprise unveiling of the ME)...

There’s NO WAY that CT would ever pass NHTSA tests or be legally approved in its current form, anywhere.

ugh... hold on.... still putting a deposit on a MACHE ...:ontheloo:
I love the reaction everyone has had to the Cybertruck. So many are getting bent out of shape over a vehicle that will most likely not look anything like what they rolled out in LA. This is pure Elon Musk and I'm sure he is loving all of it. On top of that he gets to praise Ford for the Mach-E and then stick it to the F150 with the Cybertruck. B.T. Barnum is rolling over in his grave.

Auto shows are a routine part of my life.
The Cybertruck isn’t some far off concept. It’s pretty close to what they want on the market as-is.

A CUV is a small SUV. it’s the same concept, downsized. it’s name comes from trying to entice buyers of bigger and smaller vehicles. But the concept is the same. A ranger is the same concept to an F-150, etc.

being that electric offerings in the utility category are so rare, the cybertruck and Fords suv are going to be distinctly and heavily cross shopped.

The Mach E isn’t any more real than the cybertruck. Both have been shown, specs revealed, preorders taken. The cybertruck has been driven.

I hope I’m wrong also. But I’ve seen enough corporate pride ruining things to know what’s up.

has far as a meetup drive, I don’t drink, but I’ll buy the coffee, and you drive the E-SUV. I’ll drive the GT500 (please God, please God, please God).

Space X is pure skin musk. Building and launching rockets is a lot harder than building and selling the cybertruck. It’s real, it’s coming, and it’s going to be wildly successful.
