The latest iteration of the ban includes restrictions against five majority-Muslim nations — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. North Korea and Venezuela are also on the list. Three other majority-Muslim nations, including Chad, Iraq and Sudan have been removed since policy was implemented through executive order in January 2017.

I didn't realize North Korea was muslim, or do they just sponsor terrorism?

Almost nobody from Saudi coming to the states other than students. Saudi oil money keeps the natives happy,
Right but 17 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi's and yet I don't think Saudi Arabia was included in the countries that were noted which if correct seems odd to me if its strictly national security related. But correct me if I'm wrong on the Saudi thing I honestly can't recall for sure.

I'm thinking its just that they support terrorism in general. I don't believe North Koreans can have a religion other than the dear leader.

No I'm saying the folks in government are mainly male whites in those parties in both countries. That is not a good representation of the broader cultures of both countries. It is just an observation.
More than one-in-five voting members (22%) of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate are racial or ethnic minorities, making the 116th Congress the most racially and ethnically diverse in history. There has been a long-running trend toward more racial and ethnic diversity on Capitol Hill: Each of the previous four Congresses broke the record set by the Congress before it.
White Americans (including White Hispanics) constitute the historical and current majority of the people living in the United States, with 72% of the population in the 2010 United States Census. Non-Hispanic whites totaled about 197,285,202 or 60.7% of the U.S. population.

Wow us racially backwards Americans have more racial or ethnic minorities in congress than the US population as a whole. Donald Trump would have sat down with each one of them and tried to work through legislation but he has been pummeled unmercifully since taking office.

So it's possible the other countries are on there because they support terrorism too?

Saudis are "supposed" to be allies, guess those 19 didn't get the memo.

Okay lets try this once more. How do those stats compare to the GOP exclusively? Obviously Democrats have lots of women and minorities in their ranks especially after the 2018 elections. What are the GOP specific numbers? Are 22% or more of them identified that way? I was referring to Conservatives only in both countries when I said that. No one is backwards bro never said that.

There are lots of minorities in the GOP, are we on a quota system? I for one don't look at the color of skin when I vote. I voted for a black GOP senator for Michigan but the dems got the same old white lady through. Are they racist now?

So they are okay
You mean like Saudi Arabia does?
Does Saudi Arabia support terrorism? I think some of the royal family do but I don't think it is government policy. Who knows, I think we should vet everyone coming through our country regardless of where they come from , even Canada. But, it's not up to me. Trump couldn't even get this travel ban to work around the dems who appear to support terrorism wholeheartedly.

Well they bring bone saws to interrogations....... My point was about consistency in the application of the concern. I'm not aware that any country lists it on their tourism website. They are getting a pass due to the oil no doubt.

If you want exact numbers, google it.
Thats how I got the other numbers, why are we getting hung up on race now? I thought you weren't bringing race into this? Before you were attempting to bring religion into it until you realized that 2 of the countries that were on the ban aren't exactly high areas of muslim worship. Now you are convinced Republicans are racist because they don't have as many minorities in office. I wonder how many Catholics are there?

So, you want to ban every muslim country? Or just the ones the State Department, through whatever method they use and used in the Obama years, determines has a terrorism problem?

There is likely logic to the list, but it does not correlate (well) with state sponsored terrorism nor with origins of non-state sponsored terrorists.

Saudi Arabia is not included in the travel ban, despite 15 of 19 9/11 hijackers being from Saudi.

Others were from Egypt, Lebanon, and UAE--also not included in the ban.
