Im just saying Ive had a CJ setup and anyone that says they dont make any hp and tq down low needs to find a better tuner or change rear end gear depending on transmission. My 2016 with a CJ mani and 3.55s with an A6 car on E85 was ROWDY from a 40 roll LOL!! Then again Id send it from 40 mph to redline in 2nd gear and let the auto in sport mode do the rest.

Half of me wonders if the OP lets off at 6500 rpm..... Pfft Screw that the funs just beginning ride the RPM band and let the VCT do its magic as the RPMs climb.

On E85 with the CJ mani that thing made 30 degrees of timing at 8k rpm so yeah a RIOT is an understatement!

Now if people want to argue about CJ cost I wont deny that and Id still take an 18 mani over a F150 every day of the week in any condition or setup.

Hell yeah! No arguments from me on that! Man that E85 tune is a riot. It was making 30.5* of timing at 7500 rpm with 18 manifold. 28.5* of timing from 3000 rpm on! The E85R tune is a hoot and a holler.

I would love to have a CJ manifold. Unfortunately, it's cost prohibitive, need a new hood or lower the engine to make it fit, and need OPG, etc. to rev out that high. I rev to 7800 rpm now which is about right. 7500-7600 with the 18 mani is probably sweet spot.

I smell alot of trying to justify a F150 mani in this thread. Other than the fact the F150 is prolly the cheapest mani out I just dont get it.

The OP needs to look at this thread

Especially look at the dyno from 5500 to say 7k rpm. I know I know 7k rpm is ALOT.... LOL J/K.

Find me a F150 setup that gains almost 40hp at the top of the chart on a gen2 2015- 2017 engine and well good luck.....

Exactly. Look at the top of the curve. It crushes the stock manifold curve. It would slay the F150 manifold even more. I doubt the F150 mani would even pull to 6500 without dropping like @BmacIL said. Probably by 6K its doneskie.
Using the F150 to gain more torque driving around town is just making the car slower. This is not opinion, it is fact. That's fine though if you don't care. I just don't understand why someone would take a high revving engine like the Coyote and choke it down with a truck manifold.

Once again and for the 100th time, it's not a Camaro or Challenger. Those looking for the off-the-line torque, just buy a different car or supercharge it like everyone else does. Or get higher numerical gear rear end as said before.

Nice I may just head that route of 3.73s as well. I'll do a lil more research before pulling the trigger

I appreciate your advice on this for sure. And you tried both and ultimately went with the 18 mani? That says a lot. Also with you getting the f150 mani and still was looking for more.
Yes I tried both. I went into the 18 thinking I may swap back to the F150 but after I drove it I had no desire for it. The F150 was impressive with how hard it hit in the midrange but wasnt as fun as the rocket take-off over 6k with the 18. Literally felt like the car kicked into warp drive the first few times I drove it.

I would look at a ported 18 if you really want the best of both worlds. Ported 18 makes more power throughout the whole rev range which will help your midrange feel.

I'm thinking if I do 3.73 gears I'd definitely go 18 mani and Lund tune.

So even with a tune the f150 mani revs out at 6500k? Sheesh.
So its look like if I go f150 mani then I may only hear to 3.55 to 3.73 if I go 18 mani then I definitely will need 3.73. Tunes for both though. Kinda thinking the 18 mani and 3.73 would be the best of both worlds. A decent balance
Something to think about, if you do alot of highway driving and have a loud exhaust, higher gears will make your exhaust louder lol. I switched from 3.15 to 3.55 and am happy with the switch but damn I wish there was a 7th gear sometimes lol. Higher gears will also make it harder to hook from a stop. Not arguing against them, just letting you know there are downsides.

It's really done at 6k. The power peak with the F150 manifold is at approx 5500-5700 rpm and it falls hard from there. The stock GT manifold peaks at 6700 and isn't pulling much beyond 7200. The '18 GT manifold makes peak at just over 7000, but doesn't fall much and continues to make strong power to 7500.

The '18 manifold doesn't need 3.73, but they pair well together. It feels pretty much the same as the stock manifold below 4000 rpm, and then as it approaches and goes past 5000, that's what it changes. It's fun as hell to rev out in 2nd and 3rd w/ my 3.31 rear end, but it'd be more fun (and less-arrest-me speeds) with 3.73.
The power drop from the F150 is noticable too. I couldn't feel the flatline from the stock manifold very much (until I drove the 18 mani), but the way power dies after 6k with the F150 was disappointing and is what made it overall not worth it. After 5k or so the motor didnt feel like it really wanted to rev anymore and built RPM slower.

Devils Advocate, have you actually tried the F150 manifold? As someone who has tried the F150, how hard and intense it hits in the midrange is unmatched by the stock or 18 manifold. So it does have advantages, cant say it has none.

I dont prefer that powerband myself, but nothing wrong with someone customizing their powerband more for their liking. The Camaro may have that powerband stock but some people like to see where they drive and not have a hideous interior. Lol

Off the line tq is fixed by gears thats why I said 4.10s earlier if people dont care itll fall on its face at triple digit speeds Im not kidding 1 bit 4.10s and a F150 mani or even better an 18 mani would be like make you giggle like a little girl type fun until it falls on its face at redline.

Ive got an A10 car now and Im not chasing dyno numbers or a 1/4 im tempted to put 4.10s in the A10 car on E85. I know Steeda had 4.10s in their Silver Bullet NA car and a few others have run 4.10s too.

E85 and 4.10s mileage be damned anyways on corn but I promise you it would be an absolute blast to drive! So many gears need more torque? Paddle down a few gears and send it! Haha!

No, I haven't. I am not disputing the low or midrange torque the F150 manifold could give so please don't misunderstand that. But what I am saying is WOT stop to redline and going through the gears, the F150 manifold makes the car slower. I see why people would want to do it... but it does not complement how the engine works.
My point is, what is 40 or 50 extra ft/lbs. down low or in midrange if the ultimate result is a slower car and a limited powerband. Stock this car already has enough power and torque (even down low) to pass people in traffic. Most of the folks I see doing this swap do it because they want more grunt in day to day traffic. Although I understand the desire for this, it makes no sense to me personally. But, I've been through this argument before so I will stop here.

In summary: the F150 manifold does have an advantage, yes. It's just that IMO that advantage is outweighed by just being the wrong choice for the car.

I have a brand new 2018 F150 Mani that I was going to put on my 2016 but went CJ on E85 instead.

There is so much more to this. With a F150 mani are you keeping CMCV? Whos tuning it? Ect..

A tune alone will make or break a setup. I still think there is alot to be desired in VCT tuning if someone really took the time to dial it in depending on the mani.

AED has done a crap load of Cobra Jet R&D and his tunes prove it thats why I had him do my CJ setup on E85 AED tune gives up NOTHING down low. And the CJ mani is KING period.

I got the F150 mani 1st I was going to try it then rounded up some money amd found a good Holiday sale on a CJ package and never looked back!

Ford Auto Nation had CJs just under 1k last I looked gotta pay to play.

But back to this thread I still think 18 mani over F150.

No one has tried a 2018+ F150 on a 2015-17 GT that I've heard about yet. Like the 2018 GT mani going on a 2015-17 GT, there are complications to deal with (solved I know with the GT mani).

Yeah I understand it's hard to see why one would do something that's in a whole different direction than what it was meant for. And thanks for everyone who shared helpful insight on the matter as well, its helped me see alternative and options. I'll lay things out and see what build helps me reach my ultimate goal.

I have the F150 mani and this is exactly where it excels. Under 6000 rpm. You've been mis-reading something somewhere as based on how you drive (much the same as I do) the F150 mani is perfect for you.
Hi Lou I'm curious who did your work etc. I'm in the GTA as well and typically don't go over 6k RPM - hey that's how I drive and I'm not apologizing for it although I bet I get the RPM gang will slag me.

Thanks!

Stock without a tune the rev limit is 6800 correct? So the f150 mani is 6500 before it falls flat. Would a tune fix this or at least get the mani up a few hundreds? I'm hearing the test on the f150 mani was tuneless.

Soft limit is 6800. Hard fuel cut is 7000. F150 mani will be flat at ~6000. Nature of the runner lengths and associated wave harmonics. Not really something a tune can change.
