Hey everyone, sove I've been doing a lot of research and reading about this f150 mani and could not find the answer I was looking for. I'm wondering how this mani holds up in highway driving or passing at highway speeds. My thoughts when im hearing that it pulls til 7k and then you can tell its tapped out have me thinking high rev= high speed= problem with acceleration when trying to pass or pull at highway speeds. I have 3.15 gears planning to do a 3.55 swap, tune and mani but a little nervous about this one.
I do most of my driving under 5krpm so I'm hearing the 18 mani will not benefit me. And I'm not liking the whining sound superchargers make so I decide to go the N/A route.
A little about me.
I live in Grand Rapids Michigan which is a city for those who've never been.
I've owned my auto 2015 mustang gt since February 2015 and my car is fully stock.
Out of all the time I've owned it, it has never seen anything above 6000 rpms so I'm not a high rev driver.

Is it because you think something is going to break?

No not at all, I think the longest pull I have is getting on the hwy ramp and getting up to 70 mph. Even when I'm doing spirited driving, I'm never above 6000rpm

Reading a lot of comments on other threads I get that drivers spending 90% of their time below 5 or 6krpm seems to not be common. I'm just looking to see if the trade off of the f150 mani losing power at 6 or 7krpm is causing passing power issues at highway speeds and if it's just an utter fail in acceleration once it gets to 6k 7krpm. I'm noticing a lot of amazing opinions on mods ppl have done are now turning into ppl saying they dont feel a difference and it was a waste for a minimum change. So I'm trying to be on the safe side lol

You could lose 100hp and still pass easily at 70. People forget how fast these cars actually are even stock. My 07 Malibu beater takes about 40 seconds from 65 to 70 unless you let it drop to 2nd.

IMO get yourself the Ford performance PP1 it will make way more of a difference and you keep the warranty.

For how you drive, just get a tune. Forget the manifold swap.

I would urge you to try revving it out more often. That's how these engines make the power. You might find that you like it and want to keep doing it.

That’s where the magic happens. It’s not like a GM LSx or LTx V8 where it’s making max power at 5,000-5,500rpms and has physical limitations that prevent it from safely reving past 6,500-6,700rpms.

Passing power is called downshifting. I don't know many people that pass someone in 6th gear. I go 4th gear on the highway and blow by people.

I can admit sometimes going WOT on the highway can be a bit of an eye opener as to how much power the car has. So your thinking passing up the mani altogether and just go for the tune?

I actually just thinking that I may have to try revving it out to see what I'm missing.

Got it, so my thoughts of adding the f150 mani to give me more power in the powerband that I'm in most of the time would actually hold the car back and limit top end ability?

Thanks m8, I got that part, i was just nervous that the mani would choke in the middle of a pass.

I thought of the F150 manifold for a while too for the same reasons, I ended up getting the tune and you pick up a good chunk of torque at the lower end with that. I decided to go that route until the power train warranty was up for peace of mind.

If you don't like revving the car out, you won't like the power delivery of the car. Trade immediately for a Charger, Challenger, or Camaro. I mean immediately!

I have the F150 mani and this is exactly where it excels. Under 6000 rpm. You've been mis-reading something somewhere as based on how you drive (much the same as I do) the F150 mani is perfect for you.

Ah got ya, who did you go with for your tune? I had a bama tune years ago and did not like it. Thinking lund this time around.

Nice! Do you ever notice the car feeling like it doesn't want to pull and accelerate anymore?
