Service Advance Trac, Maintenance/Wrench Light

New frontier for me with the advance trac stuff. Someone school me...

Driving down the insterate at 75mph and I get the warning that advance trac is disabled and needs maintenance. Driver selected modes disabled. Traction light off is lit up... a minute or two goes by and it all goes away...

Stopped to get fuel 40 or so miles later. Pulling back out it lights up again and says the same things as above + shows the wrench maintenance light and says “see owners manual”.. some other orange traction control light. Stayed on the other 40 miles home. I parked the car this way.

I checked for codes with my ngauge and it didn’t have any. Without starting the car, it looks like they’ve gone off.

I ran her pretty good on the tail of the dragon earlier in the day with zero issues. I was just cruising along when this started. any ideas?

Check all wheel bearings, axle nuts, ABS sensors and fuses.

Hmmm I thought about the wheel bearings possibly causing some feedback to the system but didn’t know if that would cause it or not. I thought I heard a bit more “roar” than usual and wondered if I had one going back... are there codes that can be read somehow?

It has happened to me a few times. Something where the stability augmentation has a temporary issue. Usually it occurs on a roval track. I would drive it and see it it happens again. This kind of problem usually takes care of itself.

Found a problem on mine this weekend while installing the Steeda rear camber adjustment brackets. Driver rear ABS sensor wiring was pretty tight against a metal tab that keeps the bolt from rotating while being tightened. I had to bend the tab a little. I could see the metal sawing through the wiring over time. Just a thought. Can grab pictures later. Just my $0.02

Yea would love some pics. Not sure where all of the sensors are. I’ll get it clean today and up on stands for inspection.

It's right where the camber arm connects to the rear cradle/subframe. I don't have any before pictures, but I finangled the wiring around a bit and bent the tab slightly so they no longer make contact. Hope this helps.

Thanks brother. Checked that. I can confirm that’s not the issue.

ALSO, the steering assist system is now erroring. Throwing two codes:
U0121 - lost communication with ABS module
U0212 - lost communication with steering control module. I can clear them and they come right back. I got the car in the air and pulled the driver front liner:

I started poking around the harness up front where the steering and ABS module run towards the front next to drivers side headlight. Sure enough, the problem cleared and went back to normal. So, looks def like a wiring problem vs hardware. I’ll have to pull the front facia and see what’s up.

I have had this several times - on my 2016 GT and also on my 18 350 GT. It almost always comes about as a result of a sensor problem. If you have access to a good diagnostic program (like Forscan), you may find there are DTC's listed that will shed more light on what is wrong. The owner's manual won't help you<g>!

ok here's the update: found the issue. chaffed wire grounding out in driver side corner behind headlight. This harness runs to ABS among other things and was likely causing the chaos. since isolating this I can now start the car, clear the codes and everything operate normally. edge of this harness raised up and was just touch the wire meshed air filter. Live and learn.
