Don't floor it while turning or generally showboat around and you'll be fine. You've driven manual your whole life, which as a general rule makes you an above average driver. Driving stick forces you to engage with the road and your surroundings.
I'm from the UK part of the forum, I don't venture out of there much.

This post made me laugh. Coming from a country where 90% of drivers drive manuals I can assure you that driving stick does not ensure above average driving or engagement. :cwl::cwl::cwl:

To the OP... Drive carefully, get a feel for you new ride and you'll be fine :like:

My advice would be to buy an older Mustang first and drive it a lot.. especially on snowy days so that you get a feel for what happens when you lose traction. I think you can learn a lot in low traction situations. Sliding around at a slow speed with low power input gives you more time to react and doing it in an older car means the consequences of a mistake are reduced.

Driving super conservatively can work as well, but if circumstances ever cause a skid and you react poorly - that's it. You are like one of those people on YouTube.

But then again I never had a lot of extra money to throw around. Since you do, maybe you can go to some HPDEs and learn car control there. I would recommend track day insurance as well.

Now, now, now. He has the Manual. According to this forum, only A10 drivers can text and drive.
Whut? I've been texting while driving (and shifting) since 2013. Phone never leaves my pocket.

Funny. But watch those average levels drop (in an absolute sense) if/when the driving population ever goes 90% automatics.

And keep a little more distance between you and other traffic while you're doing that. The less suddenly you have to do anything, the better.

This is coming from someone who loves Mustangs and has owned several While I agree about the idiot factor I will add that many Mustangs have a tendency to slide due to rear suspension design. For example the Fox Mustangs 4 link rear suspensions were a lot more squirrelly than the Camaro or Firebird torque arm design of the day. Modern Mustangs tend to be squirrelly due to soft bushings and movement in the rear cradle. The good news is that most of this can be corrected relatively cheaply. Add a BMR cradle lockout or similar solution from another reputable aftermarket company along with some better springs and dampneers and the Mustang becomes much, much more predictable especially near its limits. Then go to a parking lot and practice some drifts and donuts to learn the feel of the car. Modulate the throttle. Don't bounce off the rev limiter and it won't catch fire.

You bought a manual GT/PP....you’ll love it....as long as you leave the traction and stability controls on you’ll be fine, if you do any mods to your GT.... do a Corsa Extreme catback and the sound will just add to the fun of owning the car.
