Any whipple owners with the shawn foster sound tube mod? I haven't seen many threads on the specifics of the sound tube stages. I know he has four stages. I was thinking about stage 1 but not sure if the whine increase will be enough. Stage 4 i have heard is extremely loud through videos, so ive ruled that one out completely. Any recommendations on which one to get for a decent increase but nothing where it would drive me crazy.

Also, is it worth taking the airbox lid off of my whipple CAI? I know I will see a slight whine increase by doing that along with a little horsepower gain but not sure if its worth the added IAT temps. Not worried about rain as it rains maybe 1 inch every year now in SoCal. Been thinking about taking the lining off of the inside of the hood as well.

Pulley down for more whine if you can.
IMO, the biggest mistake people make is removing the stock sound tube as per the Whipple instructions.
I just installed an elbow and some tube from the factory tube to the airbox and it works well.
Not crazy loud but you can hear it when you’re into it.

Sounds like this.

Shawn is the man and you should definitely buy his product. Don't do 4. It has this screetching sucking noise that I don't find pleasant at all. I've put some extra padding on mine to mellow it out. 1 or 2 I think would be perfect.

My stage 2 does the same thing, but I don't think our experience is typical. I ended up jamming some foam padding in the tube where it meets the firewall and it made things bearable.

Pull the lid off the box and roll the windows down. IAT's will come back down once you are on the I5 or I10 or the Santa Monica or where ever you go to play anyway. As long as they aren't above 130-135F the tune isn't pulling timing. AS dinky as the HE is on the Roush package it will recover quickly enough in 60-70 degree air this time of year out there.

I would love to pulley down but I only have 91 octane and E85 here in Los Angeles. I want to stay 91 right now and the smallest pulley you can go 91 octane with is 3.750". I do plan on going E85 within a year and will pulley down to 3.5".

go get some boostane... I mix to 93 and run the 3.625 pulley... it doesn't sound any different than 3.725 though. You'd have to go to 3.5 or smaller to probably hear anything.

When I removed the hood liner I think that was about the largest difference I could hear in the actual supercharger whistle... it's easy to do and worth it

I've tried everything including hood liner, airbox lid removal and dropping pulley down to 3.5" with very little change.

Did the hood liner removal plus airbox lid removal really not do anything? Most people say the airbox lid removal alone adds like a 15% whine increase and adds rwhp too.

Removing the airbox lid was hardly noticeable and is a terrible idea to run that way all the time...too much heat!

I’ve had the stage 2 setup and always enjoyed it. I have no first hand experience with the later mods but I know he’s always trying to work on improvements or volume changes.
