Just another ticker. I posted this in another thread but figured I would jump on the bandwagon just for kicks. Fast forward to around 1:28 and listen to engine accel/decel. Sounds a bit nasty. It is not consistent however, it is random. Most of the time it ticks, sometimes its quiet and sometimes it sounds a little nasty like that when you rev. it. Production 11/17. Temperature is mostly irrelevant. Noticed mostly at idle and at least till 1800 rpm...if it happens after that, I cant hear it.

Exactly what mine sounds like. When did you first hear this? Have you had any oil consumption?

To be honest I'm not sure. I just happened to notice the noise under light throttle a couple of months ago. The ticking has been there since 1k miles. I haven't even checked the oil but I will look. I still think that it sounds like rod journal side clearance. Of coarse that is just a guess by matching the pitch/sound derived from the video with the 2nd gen and the guy moving the rods together on the crank journal. But I think its pretty darn obvious that this is bottom end related...NOT phasers, cams, cam sensors etc...

However, this particular noise has apparently been present on coyote's for a while, even saw it on an F150 recently. So this noise is not unique to our cars and must be separated from the piston "slap" 2k rattle noise. If I understand correctly.

I know our perspectives are different in all of this but it feels like our continued sharing of issues is mostly going to fall on def ears. I'm not convinced that Ford intends to remedy this/these issue/issues. And it seems to still be escaping observation that the "tick" has been around since the 1st gen coyote. If it wasn't fixed for them, why would we think ours would be. I realize that the "slap" is different and unique to 3rd gen. And this one may get addressed on a case by case basis, pending cylinder damage. I for one am not the least bit interested in a buy back or refund. I really love this car and, for now, I plan on seeing it through all this nonsense. I'm going to drive it until it breaks (if it does) or until/if Ford does anything about it. I guess if it fails post warranty, then the dollar will be on me.
