I have been looking at the 2018 GT and talking to a few dealers and they have some really really good rebates
but should i be afraid to buy this car with all the problems they are having with:

piston slap & new spray bore cylinder walls (how will this age?)
super weak shifter forks, and is there even a fix for this from ford?

even if i did buy should i look for a certain build date?

My 2011 F-150 has had the "tick" since new. 125,000 miles later still running strong. First year of the Coyote.

6,000 worry free miles on my 18 GT.

But it's on the internet so it must be true. RUN, RUN far away and buy a 4 banger civic.

Got 5k miles on my 18 manual pp1. Has the rattle at 2200 to 3 k on light throttle only. I run it hard every chance I get. Lund tune, pmas, long tubes. Most fun car I've owned. I'd buy another one in a second.
Plasma wire arc transfer is not new technology. Go drive one, if you like it go for it.

Buy a 2019 Mustang GT, or message me cuz we're selling my daughter's Prius C. It's white and she calls it The Marshmallow...

Anyway, Hunterooo called it.

I'm in the over 60 group (from the poll above) so I can't hear very well so I don't hear any engine ticks/rattles:) I love my 2018 PP1 Auto with MagRide. Would buy it again in a second...Plus I have the 8 year extended warranty so I'm not worried....

Any issues with the 18 seem to be way overblown, and most "issues" will likely be present on the 19 as well.

Buy the car that you can afford, when you can afford it, and enjoy driving it.

Why are you basing a purchase decision on a statistically insignificant amount of bad reviews? Remember for every bad write up you read there are thousands of unwritten happy owners.

The internet is filled with FUD. Buy the car and enjoy it. If something breaks, have it repaired under warranty.

...new spray bore cylinder walls (how will this age?)...
It isn't new. Ford has used PTWA on the '11-'14 GT500 engines, along with the '15+ GT350 engines. They also licensed the tech to Nissan for the GT-R long before it was ever used in a Ford product. It held up well in high HP FI engines, and it will be fine in your NA GT.
