You'd be losing way more money by swapping to another Ecoboost than you'd ever lose on the gas difference between the Eco and GT.

But for your choice between a used Eco for 22 and a new 18 auto for 24.5, I'd take the new one.
Can have a brand new 17 Eco base auto with PP for $22k is it better than a stock auto 18 base?

What is going on with this thread..?

I think you are confused as to why you are upgrading. You need to clearly state, what about your car you do not like and why you are looking to upgrade. What are you looking for out of your Mustang..?

And yes, the 2018 a10 auto... is superior to a 17 auto, no matter what performance pack.

I thought I made it clear on the first post. My car is starting to have some issues and getting up there in mileage. It needs AC work and have all those engine issues, minor for the most part, but that are really hard to diagnose and have already been "dismissed" by the dealer as "work as intended". So, before more things start to happen and my car starts to depreciate even more because of the high miles and being a 15 with the 19s around the corner, I would like to see if it makes sense to upgrade for the right price to a new one or used GT for about the same price.

If you care more about performance and power: used GT
If you care more about mpg and having a new exterior: new ecoboost

Side note I see your first post says the car has 36k miles. In what world is this “up there in mileage” lol what

Your car was tuned, no telling what damage has been done, I would get out of that car ASAP. I had a 15 and now an 18, the 18 is drastically better, worth the extra$$$

Not a lot of miles but warranty is up and it being a premium, any of the electronics fail and you are left with a nice mess and potentially costly fix. Look at my AC, if Ford does not warranty, it will be over $2,000 to replace.

Over $2,000? A new AC compressor is sub $300 and I doubt the entire thing and all supporting pieces are donezo and even then there are entire kits for sub $900. I’m assuming this is a price your stealership gave you and even in the case it’s the entire thing it must be an 11 hour job at 100/hour... Find a reputable shop around you.

Your bumper/bumper warranty is up, your power train is not. I think based on your posts what is most important to you is warranty and gas savings, wouldn’t you agree? If so, the answer is clear- trade for the new eco

If a warranty is so important why not just get a Ford (or even another company) ESP? I think some of them last till year 10 or 11.

Not to say $2000 is a fair price, but it does require multiple people for some parts and isn't a short job as (from my understanding) the entire dash has to come out.

My logic was more-so why would you go to a stealership for non-warranty repairs when you can find a reputable shop to work on it. For example: Dealership wanted $450 dollars to install just SPRINGS. I know the install, just don’t have the proper tools or space. I went to a reputable mustang shop and he did the job, perfectly, for $180. Even let me watch and hang out.

The AC issue seems to be well known for the 15-17s. OP should get the 18 eco with full/extended warranty if running into repair costs is the major concern.

I'd save and get the GT... if it had to be a Mustang.

Sounds like the eco is too slow for you... and if not tuned, they are painful to live with in the performance department. Even the Ford Performance tune "wakes" them up though.

These cars are okay, but I feel you on the maintenance. Mine now has some small oil leak on the engine -- not much, does not drip.. not even close. Can't really tell. Trying to figure out if I do the ethical thing and take it in to the dealer or clean it up and sell it at carmax (let someone else deal with the issue).

Anyway... follow these steps:

1. Save
2. Get GT
3. Return and create thread: "Eco to GT... I'm much happier!"

Dealer today had no idea... they are going to charge me for the diagnosis and once they know what is wrong, they will contact Ford and see what they can do. Still is BS after I bought two cars from this dealer and did two trade ins with them as well... If they figure this out I may hold on or just trade it in for a newer Eco and get a new warranty and engine.

Eco is fine, I would just put the FP tune on it and let it wake up. I found a GT in my area and trying to get it down to $28K OTD minus $18k for my eco... what do you guys think of the price?

$28K OTD wouldn't be bad. I bought my '15 GT used. The only GT I would ever consider is the one I got: PP 6spd manual. But I don't daily drive it. I wouldn't want to daily drive a GT:
1-I'd get tired of it as the novelty would wear off daily driving it
2-Gas mpg sucks

So they wouldn't take 28k but found another 2015 base GT, with 27k miles and ruby red for $26.5k OTD minus $18k for my trade in (15 Eco premium with 37k miles)

Is it a good deal? Or should I just stick with a newer Eco with even lower miles? Not sure if the extra $8.5k is worth it, especially since it is a DD...

I guess that sort of also depends on how quick you want to get the GT and how far you are willing to travel. I looked for three or four months and drove 800 mile to South Carolina to pick up mine. I got a CPO GT premium with 6500 miles on it for 26.7k, dealer started at 31k. Nice to have an extra 16k in my pocket vs buying new:thumbsup:
