Maybe I am spoiled from the Aviation world but even in my little Saturn Champ Car we placed our gauges within our periphery not out of it. In fact, my S550 had two gauges there as well. Albeit one was a vacuum boost in a performance pack car??? The only items out of the periphery should be warning/caution lights not needles on a gauge with very small font.
IMO, the fact that the center LCD displays all important, vital, operation limitations makes the gauges (that are badly placed) obsolete and purely for aesthetics. If the gauges where within your periphery that would be a different story.
I completely understand, but I do agree there's a certain comfort in being able to glance over at the oil pressure needle and just see that it's not at zero haha.

So, anybody interested in those base R's? (sorry to change the subject) :)

I think our mutual friend may be interested in the white one. I wonder if he could cut a deal and arrange for a local (Detroit) courtesy delivery.

I think that he may no longer be interested. He's also very strict on MSRP or nothing. I don't think these cars will ever sell for MSRP.

I heard another friend was working with our mutual friend on HR001, but I have not heard any progress or news.

He will probably not make your delivery. He is talking about coming down at the end of next month. Do you have any idea when your car will be delivered? I'm working on and off for the rest of the month. I sure would like to be there to see you take delivery of your dream.

It's looking like HR265 will arrive in FL sometime by the end of this week, then however long it takes to get from the rail yard to the dealership. There's also a wrinkle on my end - a friend is actually considering buying H2614, so if I don't have a trade, I'll make the trip to close the deal and enjoy some warm weather, then hire one of the carriers to deliver it up north to the frozen tundra.

My immediate schedule is working Thursday thru Sunday. Plan on that car sitting in that lot in Jax for some time. I don't remember the exact time frame mine sat there, but is was at least 4 days. I do recall COTUS wound up being accurate, so maybe they ship from that yard to meet delivery date targets. Eric now knows how to track the truck and get delivery information for the day within a specified window. For me, he grabbed an explorer and we waited in the receiving lot at the dealer until the truck arrived. He is a car guy, so you guys can talk cars or whatever.

I bet you are excited.

HR001 was just delivered to a friend of mine late last week and am looking forward to getting our two cars together hopefully later this month.

Thanks for the update Harry. I didn't want to throw your name out there.

Muligan,

I texted with our friend and he cant swing an R at this time. He mentioned to me that he had his hands on three base cars yesterday. One is going to Clearwater FL.

I bought a black paint marker the other day for autographs for if/when he makes it down

I wanted to share my discovery that Sun State Ford in Orlando, Florida has ordered 3, yes three Base package GT350R's and they have all been produced and are awaiting shipment at this time!

Interestingly enough, they are consecutive VIN's also, so this may be a rare opportunity for a collector to have that also if they buy more than one.

Colors available are White/blue OTT, Kona/White OTT, and Lead Foot/Black OTT.

I did call on the Kona and they confirmed that it was still available.. I am not sure about the others but I'm guessing that there is a good chance they are.

Good Luck!
Based on information provided to me earlier today nothing is guaranteed with respect to securing any one of these 3 Base R models with the final decision subject to whatever the local Ford representative can negotiate with Ford Performance regarding the possible release of one of these Base R models.

;)

Thanks for the info. I'm officially confused. If this dealer ordered these cars and outfitted them this way, why would there be a holdup? It's not like the factory randomly made these "special base cars" only so dealers could negotiate whether they would get them or not. Either the dealership had the allocations or didn't.

Personally I thought it was kind of strange that a Florida dealer would order 3 base cars but perhaps they did it because they knew March was the last month they could be produced and they wanted to have the last of them?

Or, perhaps they weren't intended to be ordered this way? Maybe a dealership, zone, or factory snafu?
