Somebody must not know the gt500 will be out in a few months.
Seth my man! We've been waiting for you. Each week for the past several years, we have a Mustang GT owner come over to let us know how much our 350/R's are really worth. Seeing as it's Monday, you're this week's valuation member.

Somebody might not know though, that the previous generation GT500 was already more powerful and faster in a straight line than the GT350/R. I wonder why we bought GT350/R's then?

ZING! Hellcats and Z06's with discounts yet the R's still command a premium and sell at MSRP used. We are all so stupiiiiiiid!

My track pack obviously had the gauges and I did not use them especially on track. The center cluster display has the same info and conveniently located for quick reference. The gauges are not in a good location and not angled properly for reference. These gauges where also on my S550 GT/PP and again shit location. They are more for aesthetics.
Does the center cluster have oil pressure? Neither of my car's have had op displayed there.

I'm not sure what the law mandating the backup camera actually requires, but the 2011 S197s had a screen in the rear-view mirror that displayed the backup camera. It would be trivial for them to add a system like that, and still have a 'true' base R.

JR
The econolines had the same thing. My guess is it would require a harness and new mirror assembly which Ford isn't likely to deal with for what short run is left on a faily unpopular option on a niche model.

If you mean those 2 gauges between the AC vents then yes, oil pressure and oil temperature. Even if not ideally angled I can glance over and see how things are doing. This way I can use the instrument cluster display for other things (e.g. tire pressures that I can correlate to tire temperatures depending on ambient temperatures or other things).

He was referring to the center cluster display between the tach and speedo, as he has a base and does not have the 2 gauges above the vents. I was asking if his cluster displayed oil pressure. Mine does not, but I have an electronics package car so I have the 2 gauges.

I could not find the oil pressure there either when I tried. I can double-check next time I will drive the car.

If you had read post #10 you would see that the color was already confirmed as Magnetic and also a very good chance that this car will be an Electronics Package car now and not a base car so here is a great opportunity for you.

;)
Are you suggesting that the factory will change the car to an electronics package car (IE, add the option) after it's been produced? The blend date has come and gone and for all intensive purposes, it's done and sitting ready to ship.

Why would the factory care? What am I missing here?

Yes. Mine shows both!

Edit: tried to upload a photo and after compressing it it still will not upload because the aspect ratio was not correct. Frustrating!

It's also listed in the supplemental manual, page 22.

You are correct. It is in the supplement. Problem is my car does not have it (the oil pressure virtual gauge that it). Out of the 10 virtual gauges in the supplement my car has 9 and then it has another one the supplement does not mention “Distance to empty”. And as mentioned it does not have the oil pressure one.

So either my car is programmed a little different, or there is a way I am not aware of to make that oil pressure virtual gauge appear. I am not sure. Does anybody have any ideas what could be going on?

Don't know. Maybe activate with forscan?? Either way, both my track pack and R displayed oil pressure and temp in the LCD display

Really - for aesthetics? I agree they are not easily read, but they are not there to record scientific data while driving. Glance over for a second, needles pointing up, you're good to go.

FR will not change the 2 remaining base R's over to Electronics Package cars as just way too much work with respect to radio antenna, wiring, AC plumbing, carpet sound deadener etc.

The 3 base cars have been built with Window Stickers also issued but no transparency or explanation as to why the other 2 cars will not be released until their decision has changed since late last week.

This is not a matter of what the FR factory wants but what FP in Dearborn wants or does not want for some of these base cars with many times little or no explanation for their reasoning.

Maybe I am spoiled from the Aviation world but even in my little Saturn Champ Car we placed our gauges within our periphery not out of it. In fact, my S550 had two gauges there as well. Albeit one was a vacuum boost in a performance pack car??? The only items out of the periphery should be warning/caution lights not needles on a gauge with very small font.
IMO, the fact that the center LCD displays all important, vital, operation limitations makes the gauges (that are badly placed) obsolete and purely for aesthetics. If the gauges where within your periphery that would be a different story.
