I completely understand, but I do agree there's a certain comfort in being able to glance over at the oil pressure needle and just see that it's not at zero haha.Maybe I am spoiled from the Aviation world but even in my little Saturn Champ Car we placed our gauges within our periphery not out of it. In fact, my S550 had two gauges there as well. Albeit one was a vacuum boost in a performance pack car??? The only items out of the periphery should be warning/caution lights not needles on a gauge with very small font.
IMO, the fact that the center LCD displays all important, vital, operation limitations makes the gauges (that are badly placed) obsolete and purely for aesthetics. If the gauges where within your periphery that would be a different story.
