Is yours around the same 1900 RPM or so? I can make a very similar sound with my transmission if I keep pressure on the shifter.. Yours may very well be tranny related... Can you make it go away with shifter pressure?
Mine makes the sound between 1500-2500 rpm under light load, mostly in 1st and 2nd gear. Shifter pressure doesn't make the sound go away, it just changes the pitch a little. Kind of like muffling it, but it doesn't stop it. Now that I hear it, I can hear it in 6th at cruise (1850rpm), though it's really difficult to pick up over the road noise. I know it's there though because if I push the clutch in the noise goes away.

Car runs perfectly fine. Makes good power, and I got nearly 29mpg on my road trip last weekend...so whatever it is doesn't seem to be effecting performance in any way.

My '18 makes the piston rattle too when it's cold. Once the oil temp. stabilizes in the "normal" range, I don't here it. Like the GT350 engine with the spray-in cylinder liners, I wonder if we just hear it more than vs the pressed in liners used in previous Coyote motors?

The GT350 has different pistons than we do though, and I think that's the source of their noise. Not sure what this might be. I'll be disappointed if my 18GT with 1k miles on it has piston slap already.

Home now and finally was able to listen to the GT350 video posted. That's what mine sounds like inside also. I took a video with my phone this afternoon before I got the kids to try and capture the noise, but my phone doesn't pick it up that well. Partially because it's just not that loud, and probably also due to my exhaust.

Ok, uploaded my video to youtube (first video upload ever..yay?). You can hear it best at the start of the video, and the end. My phone seems to have done a good job not picking up the rest of it.

Mine makes the exact same sound as well. I have the MT. And like most people's it goes away after the engine has been warmed up (10-15 minutes).

Yeah see, mine never goes away..I can always hear it, even after I've been driving for 3 hours.

Mine is always there. It's all I hear. Drives me nuts. Side note, my car is still broken at the dealer with trans issue. Flywheel is on backorder until possibly June. Ford said they're unable to pull from production at this time. Clutch is also on backorder until may unless suppliers ship early. Pretty pissed.

Whoa...that's a long freaking time to be waiting on a flywheel and clutch. That can't be right.

So with regards to the rattle...I can hear mine all the time too. And of course, now it's also all I hear since I'm listening for it whether I mean too or not. But today, I started trying to poke around the car and find it. I had my wife blip the throttle while I poked around under hood/etc. I couldn't hear anything from under the hood up top. That all sounded fine. However, I CAN hear it standing off to the side of the car.

From a quick poke of my head underneath, it really sounds like it's coming from the bell housing area. In fact, that is why I spotted the damned oil leak my car decided to grace me with. Still...I'm encouraged that I was hearing the noise there. I don't think it's the engine, i think it's something else picking up engine harmonics. I've been offered lift access this weekend, so if I can find the time I will head over and put it up on a lift to see if I can't run the source of the noise to ground.

Is the bell housing the same between A/T and M/T?

Not sure. They would both have that plate there though, even if the plate differs some between them. I don't know if that plate is the culprit or not yet, but it sure sounded like the rattle on mine was from that area.

Other then the cash I've spent on stuff like undercoating, tint ect I'm hoping to lemon it. Another member has a post in anything coyote page on Facebook where they basically allowed him to choose a new car based off wait times. I'll pay the difference but I'll be getting a auto with next one. Fingers crossed lol.

So finally got a call back from my service dept..

Ford suggested they see if a new car has the same noise..
They drove 2 new auto's and a new manual.. All 3 had the same noise.

He did say that mine seems a little louder than the new ones.. Not really surprising to me, but said it was close enough that it would be considered normal. Stated the tech wanted to pinch off the sound tube to see if that would help diminish the sound a little and they thought maybe my Roush exhaust was making it louder..

Anyhow, Ford wants them to run a power balance test on it along with a couple more things and give it back if it doesn't fail.. I really don't think it will fail anything as it doesn't have any other issues, but we'll see..

TL DR.. Ford says normal...
