Spent a lot of time cleaning wheels deep inside because prior owner never did. Dried the car and drove it to clean the rust off the rotors. When I get home the cleaned wheels are covered in rust dust and stains from rusty water that was flung out of the vent holes in the rotors. Anyone else have this happen?

Wipe them off with a micro fiber sprayed with waterless car wash. It takes 5 minutes.

You may want to blow out the rotors with compressed air, if available, before you wash your wheels.

Sounds frustrating. It never occurred to me that this could happen because I don't use a hose when I wash my rims or any other part of my car. The best part of ten years ago, I adopted the three bucket method with microfiber cloths to clean the bodywork and the spokes on the rims. I clean the barrels of my wheels when they're off the car, just wiping down the spokes when they're on.

Take off the rotors and cleaned them with wire brush and apply anti sieze on the hub and on rotors where they touch the wheel. Do all 4 corners.

Yes. 100% normal. Iron rotors+water=corrosion.

To put it simply, I wash then air blast the wheels 1 at a time.

Its gonna happen when it rains as well... I learned to stop sweating the small stuff. As soon as you take it out again all the rust should come off. Its usually just superficial and nothing I ever found could really help it for any of my cars.

1) Wash car.
2) Dry car.
3) Short drive around the block (ride the brakes a little before you get back home).
4) Wipe newly splashed water off car.
5) Wipe the rear panel off because it gets filthy after a short ass drive.
6) Wipe down wheels.

^^THIS^^ is my religious routine.

On another similar note...EBC is making their Red pads to fit our car. Should be out soon. That won’t do anything for the post wash rust, but it’ll all but eliminated brake dust.

Agree as above, drive a little bit immediately after washing. If I don't do this, the next day the big ass brakes are rusted to the point it is difficult to move the car, and when it does move there is a loud clunk as they break free. This has improved dramatically after changing from using softened water (has small amount of salt) to DI water (CR spotless system).
