Long time M car guy: 01 m3, 05 m3, 06 m5, 08 m6, 11 m3, and 15 m3. Loved all the M cars until the F80. Its big, sounds like crap, fake v8 noise in the cabin, numb steering, and lacks soul. Had it for 5 months, then had to decide to jump back to an E9x M3 or step up to a 911. Moved to a 991.1 GTS, car is fantastic. But its a lot of money and I could probably get 95% of the fun for 50% of the cost
Which leads me to the GT350. I've followed the GT350 before it launched. Its the M3 BMW never built. Based on research and reviews, I have a pretty good idea this car would work. Although I've never owned a Ford my entire life, especially a Mustang
I'm trying to find one to drive, and doing some research in the meantime. I'm also looking to buy used vs. new.
Questions
Why so many low mileage 16/17 cars? Plenty with under 2k miles.
What's up with the recall? I've read many threads. I followed the link for the VIN. I enter the VIN in the tool. But how can I tell if the car has had the recall "fixed"? Or better yet, is there a way to tell the build date?
16 vs. 17: a nice 16 can be had for about $47k. 17's start at $50k used, even a few new ones out for $55k. I've read about the packages, etc. However I'm worried about the engine oil issue w the 16. I like how the 17 is optioned - I get the conv pack, and has everything I want. For $3k diff maybe just go w a 17?
Recaro: LOVE the look of the recaro, love suede. However this is my only car and DD. Living in the south, cooled seats are sure nice. I know I need to sit in them. Some reviews said the recoaro's are tight.
Resale: I take resale into account when I buy a car. My hunch would be around 10% depreciation per year?
Warranty is 4/50k right? I've seen a few ads stating "special Ford 1 year warranty". I wonder if that's for the recall issue?
Maintenance: Any major expenses? For example, on my E46 M3 a valve adjustment was needed for $1200. On the E90 M3 $2500 engine repairs at 60k miles.
That's it for now. I'm trying to get my questions answered via search. Thanks.
