I'm having some false knock

http://datazap.me/u/ampymann/3rd-gear-pull?log=0&data=1-13-28

I'm running stock headers and 94 octane.

I'm not too familiar with logging and knock, but my tuner (Lund) told me its false OEM knock.

Should I just turn the sensor down? I checked everything made sure its tight, no rubbing etc.

Also check the exhaust ball socket flange on the drivers side. It can get loose and rattle and even if tight all the way may still rattle.

put better gas in like ms109, if the knock is still there its "false knock", Lund will turn down the sensitivity once its confirmed....my s550 had this and my s197 had it....thats how it was dealt with and in both cases i was bottom 9 and high 8 sec cars.

I have a paxton too with the 3.6 lund tuned and our logs look very similar with the knock. Let us know if you find it before I do. I've been trying to figure it out for 10 weeks.

Well that doesn't sound too good for me lol.

I'll try to figure it out this weekend.. I just installed my paxton this week.

Getting my hopes up tho lol.

Here's a good checklist:

Any exhaust clamps or touching, any bolts loose.

axleback touching sway bar in rear

Driver side pipe on paxton coming up is a bit tight of a fit. Make sure clamps are tightened down.

Do you have the T bolts? Very useful

Tighten belt tensioner

Anything loose or touching in the piping in the kit could be a problem.

Put octanium or some good quality fuel/race gas in to rule that out, but it looks false from the logs.

Driveshaft bolts

If car is too low, it could be causing the issue according to lund

I would like to point out(red circles) your knock seems to occur, regardless of throttle, when your load goes over 1.0(blue line) AKA manifold pressure becomes higher than atmospheric(boost). If fuel in this critical transient area is not tuned right you will get knock. I also want to point out(blue circles) after your knock events it resumes adding again. To me that is too coincidental for it to be false knock. I would not desensitize the sensors and call it good. Pretty soon we are going to have to refer to these tunes as "false knock racing".

When some motors start getting hurt,we will see how false it is then. And i get it their are times wheir false knock accurs, but the amount of false knock being claimed on these cars is a joke!!!.And trust me if someone motor does get hurt u better believe they are going to say it was false knock or u got a bad tank of gas.

I saw that but looked to be false knock. Timing is not commanded high enough to have true spark knock.

Fuel is correct, I trust Lund.

Not sure if I'd put the blame on the tuners. I think the cards are stacked against them when all these blower manufacturers claim their stuff will work on an 11:1 compression ratio engine, especially when they are saying it's fine and dandy to run 91 octane to boot. Surprisingly Whipple is the only manuf. that supplies a functional calibration with their system. Although there have been threads mentioning noteable knock on Whipple cars too that run pure pump gas without any additive like Torco. They must be doing something right to be willing to take any blame if something goes wrong with the engine because of knock, course I'm sure when that day comes I'm betting you are right that it will be blamed on bad gas, lol.

I agree and have talked to a few of my buddies about how much boost some of these cars run on 11.1 compression and 93 fuel. Also i know a couple of guys using the whipple cal and it by far one of calibrations for being safe and pretty fast.Flight control is awesome.I believe some of these instances of knock are probably related too install errors but in know way do i believe all of this knock stuff coming up is false knock.I.also firmly believe that know one cares for car like u do,which is why no one touches my car except for tuning and that may change soon.
