Buddy of mine did on his 11 GT. With longtubes, x-pipe, and flowmaster outlaws axlebacks. Sounds alright.

Why not just do a good cat delete?

OOOHHHHHH!!! Well that makes plenty of sense. I didn't even think of that....we don't have inspections where I live.

Most cat delete kits come with an extra flange so you swap back and forth. Seems like the overall better route.

If those inspectors seen some of the shit on the road around here they would have a heart attack. Most of the folks in my county can't even spell "cat"

That big hollow can has got to be bad for performance ... messes with the exhaust flow/velocity filling up that hollow cat. I wouldn't do it personally.

I actually run a mak cat deletes, not that I like to advertise peoples products. I have a high flow cat's on each bank to remain legal. It's not worth the fines/ towing your car to not run cat's. I have a x-pipe and stock mufflers to keep it quite and not draw UN-WANTED attention. I REALLY don't want the attention, and It's my daily. The guy I got them from, had them tested with his exhaust vs. with the high flow cats. He bragged it was worth a 1 HP difference he lost. The location is not in the stock location, but it works. With exhaust its about flow and not just volume. Some cars exhaust actually cause suction and makes more power from the exhaust. I'd NEVER gut a cat as I could see that causing you to loose power. Just my opinion.

Diesel guys have been gutting their cats forever and they always pickup a little power along with better MPG. If you live in an area with visual inspections, but want a truly catless setup, this is your only option.

Except that our cars are not diesel. Different fuel, different engine, different cats.

You can always weld in a 2.5" straight pipe to the inside on the cat after it's gutted..
Shut the front door I just gave myself a GREAT idea!
