How can you guys tell how much oil have been consumed? Is there a way to tell from the stick ?
If it's low on the stick how much do you pour in to get back in the normal zone?

Oh OK. It's been 5k miles since the last oil change of my stang and the oil is 1/5 inches lower from the original level, that's why I'm curious.

that's probably less than 1/4 quart.

Last time I changed oil. My level is about middle of the hashed area. I got just a little over 7 quarts out.

Checking oil is a pain in the ass on the PP GTs. Fucking strut tower brace makes it a bitch to check.

But why yes of course I check my oil regularly in accordance with Fords recommendations in order to preserve my extended care premium platinum whatever they call it expensive ass warranty plan.

plus the approx 1/2 quart in the filter.
I did drain the filter but I guess not all of it.
Still pretty close to what people are talking about.

I have a 2011 5.0 with about 22k miles on it. I have not noticed any excessive oil consumption.

I also own a Dodge 3.8 and that motor has gone through oil since day 1 like crazy. It's to the point now where I buy 10 quarts of oil, 5 to change the oil and 5 more to get me to the next oil change. The motor doesn't leak and doesn't puff out blue smoke, but it sure goes through oil!

My GM 3800 has 150k miles and the oil level never drops between oil changes!

So, I've experienced it every way.

Hi All. This is my second post. My first was about A/C unreliability in my 2011 GT. Again, this is a DD with 152K on the clock.

My car consumes oil like crazy - it has since I switched over to Mobil 1 5-20 when it had about 5K on the clock. The motor seems to work fine - it just likes consuming prodigious amounts of oil. As in about 1 quart or a little more every 1K miles. By the time I change oil on this car (usually after 9-10K miles), I have added 8 quarts or so easy to 8 the quarts it started off with. Everytime Costco has M1 5-20 on sale I grab a case.

I'm asking about this stuff because I'm considering a 2018 GT for my next DD.

Thanks everybody.
That is very heavy oil consumption. My 2016 GT's oil level is very stable.
I'd take it in to get it documented.
1 qt / 1000 miles is not normal.

Motorcraft EV289 or BL3Z-6A666-AA it's the same thing, after reading multiple threads on oil consumption for higher RPM applications I was having issues where it was just sucking oil in and actually ruined my ported throttle body Electronics which I had to Pull-A-Part replace all the guts in it . After swapping the PCV valve two one that was the F-150 EcoBoost I don't have any more issues with oil consumption now every 5000 miles it's about a half a quart to a quart before it was a little more than a quart every thousand miles.

Guys, it's simple. If you drive hard, get a catch can. Catch cans work. Prior to the catch can I consumed about 3/4 of a quart over 3000 miles. Since, I've consumed no oil.

I have had a catch can for more than a year, still consumed too much oil after boss manifold installed, in fact the catch can would be full of oil and still suck oil in the manifold, had issues until i replaced the PCV Valve.

Mobil oil has been known to have burn off in higher revving engines. Try a different oil before you assume the engine is the issue. I gave up on Mobil back in early 2000s when they changed the formula when I had burn off issues. It's a known issue.
This was my experience with Mobil 1 back in the early 2000's and is one of the reasons I quit using this oil. I use Motorcraft 5W-20 in my 14 GT and have no oil consumption issues.

Sounds weird that an oil can increase oil consumption.
Maybe it's the detergent in mobil1 cleaned the engine making the rings now pass some oil?
