Oil pressure sensor sent no warning that the car was low on oil at any time during the 4200 miles. And yes i bought my 4th coyote(2nd one to be brand new) and checked the oil at 500 and 1000 miles. At 1000 miles there was oil right at the bottom of the lower marker on the stick.
The hate and discontent with you is strong.
Is your '16 able to keep up with these A10 cars?
I've been trying to quit smoking, so please pardon me. But if the oil is 6-7 quarts low, a light would come on. I'm thinking more oil than you think came out when you drained it.

If you follow along the posts i clearly say i checked at 500 and 1000 miles.
At 1000 miles the oil level was at bottom hole on the stick.
Didnt check any after that due to me having other coyotes and never having any oil consumption issues

In the future check your oil at least every other fill up until you are used to your coyotes oil usage. My 16 used 1 1/2 quarts during break in. But the next oil change none was used. I would change the oil and check it every time you fill your tank until you figure out what if any its using. If its using 6 quarts then yeah something is wrong.

You mean the low oil mark? Did you top it off? If it is already on the low mark after 1k miles, that is like a quart. I would have been a bit worried there.

I haven't checked mine in a while, but at 1k miles when it went in for the oil pan gasket dripping the level hadn't budged on the stick. It was still right at the top.

After the repair, I checked it when I got it back, and again 1500 or so miles later, and it hadn't moved then either. It's at 4k now, and I'm about to take it on a road trip so I'll check it again, but given that it hasn't used any noticeable amount yet, I'm not expecting anything. I also clean my car weekly, at least, and my exhaust tips have stayed very clean, so I'd say you have an issue that needs addressed.

The dealer was kind enough to capture some of the oil from that change when they repaired it, which I've got in a blackstone kit. I'll mail it off here before too long. I was originally going to wait until I had two samples to send at once to compare them, but..meh.

Hey guys,
First post here fairly new to the scene
Just wondering if any of you '18 GT guys have had any problems with oil consumption in the first oil change?
I changed the oil at 4200 miles and only 3-4 quarts were emptied. I do notice the car smokes on every cold start for the first 10 seconds. Currently in progress of performing oil consumption for Ford.

Guys are now saying Ford made a batch of bad engines but Ford are saying nothing about it. You probably got one. No way a new car drops that much oil in 4,000 miles. Even if you dutifully checked the oil level at regular intervals that engine was buggered. It’s not your fault. Have Ford build you a new motor and read the threads here and videos on YouTube (many of those guys post here). Time to go to war with Ford.

And thanks to the forum members here who talked me out of buying a new GT. Anything is better than this bullshit.

Mine leaked because the oil filter wasn't tight enough from the factory. I check the oil every weekend, and after 5k miles it had got down to the lower mark before I changed it and noticed. I assume it's a combination of the leak and the recirculation system.

Sorry haven't heard this. I work with numerous 2018 mustang GT owners and none of us have serious issues. The worst I've encountered is the drip from the oil filter. Are you talking about the warranty thread?

mine didnt leak or drip, but was surprised at how little effort it took to spin it off. Mine didnt burn or use oil at all, i checked when i got home the night i bought it and about once a week for the first month, then a couple weeks after that, then when i changed it last week, ive had it 2 months and just hit 1300 miles, changed it at 1250. i know it didnt need it but have the rattle, wanted amsoil in it and sent the factory fill to get a UOA to see if any abnormal more then usualy contaminates are in it. mine luckily has been spot on so far, a friends 2017 burned through a crap ton of oil the first 10k miles so i stayed on top of it

Check in the warantee and recall forums and you will see plenty. Also the OP gets smoke at startup and oil in his tailpipes so it’s more than a loose filter.

Yes but op hasn't specified any rattling which is what a large part of the issues revolve around.

Changed mine at 5,006 miles. Emptied probably a little over 9 quarts plus whatever was still in the filter and whatever soaked the wire loom and splash guard from removing the filter.
