Hey guys,
First post here fairly new to the scene
Just wondering if any of you '18 GT guys have had any problems with oil consumption in the first oil change?
I changed the oil at 4200 miles and only 3-4 quarts were emptied. I do notice the car smokes on every cold start for the first 10 seconds. Currently in progress of performing oil consumption for Ford.

6-7 qts low!

JC!

I'd say Flat Rock Assembly messed up when filling or you need a new short block.

Lol. Wow. If your count is accurate then something is TERRIBLY wrong. No, the GT should never burn 7 quarts of oil in 4k miles.

First oil change at 5,xxx miles. Plenty came out. I checked the dip stick before the change and it was good. Checked after I changed the oil adding 10 quarts. Dip stick at the same level as before the oil change.

So no burn for me.

Unlike my GT350 that was going thru one quart per 750 miles.

I have noticed about 2 qts of consumption in between the first two oil changes. First one at 5k miles, at 8k now and added a qt and a half. Not really worried with a 10qt capacity. Even when I changed the oil and added 10qts it was not full on the stick cold. It holds so much oil the temp actually will change the reading. I'm wondering if using only e85 has any effect on the consumption. I add grape fragrance to the fuel and I noticed the oil in my catch can (only about an oz between changes) had a hint of grape smell to it. I may actually send a sample of my oil after 3k miles in to be analyzed to make sure it is not fuel contaminated. I wonder if the increase in fuel demand on e85 could cause some fuel dilution of the oil.

Some oil dilution is normal with E85. They generally suggest decreasing OCI when running it.

So, you buy a brand-new, high-compression engined car, and you didn't watch the oil level? No idiot light come on to tell you you were 6 quarts low on oil?

ETA: Never mind replying to this thread. The OP is gone. He or she doesn't appear to give a shit about their brand-new car being 6-7 quarts of oil low, and blowing smoke.

Yikes. If you are burning more than 1 quart in a couple thousand miles, I would be concerned. Either the engine wasn't properly filled with 10qts, or you have some issues. When you say it smokes, do you mean it actually has color to it? All engines/exhausts expel water vapor at cold start. If there is a black/blue tint, you are burning oil. I have noticed mine consumes some oil, but we are talking like a 1/4 of the distance from full to low in 2600 miles.

I have a catch can on mine as well. Its been the first thing I've done to all my 5.0's.
I did notice that the oil in there had a hint of gasoline smell to it as well.
This '18 also does seem to fill up the oil separator more often than the others ive owned

It does have the blue-ish tint to it and the exhaust tips are absolutely coated inside.
I have a couple buddies that work for Ford and they also said that maybe the car only originally got 8qts instead of 10 since its a new change that might fly under the radar.

That's not a good sign. My exhaust tips are very clean. It sounds like you are actually burning oil. I would definitely get Ford on that. It would be interesting to see what a compression test will show. Shocking that a CEL light didn't go off with such low oil level.

Oil pressure sensor sent no warning that the car was low on oil at any time during the 4200 miles. And yes i bought my 4th coyote(2nd one to be brand new) and checked the oil at 500 and 1000 miles. At 1000 miles there was oil right at the bottom of the lower marker on the stick.
The hate and discontent with you is strong.
Is your '16 able to keep up with these A10 cars?

Yes i was very surprised that there were no warnings that the engine was low on oil.
Ive had 3 other coyote cars and never had any issue with oil consumption.
