I think he was pointing that the cars don't have an oil temperature sensor. Sounds like its the same as my 2002 SVT where the oil temperature gauge displays a temperature the oil "should be" based on water temperature and other inputs. But it should be fairly accurate assuming the inputs it used were accurate. But not foolproof, for instance very low oil levels would cause the oil to be hotter than the system "calculated" oil temperature should be based on proper oil levels.All S550s have an oil temperature gauge (in the information display)
