There were definitely two cars testing that day. Interestingly, there are no shots of the front end of the car with the R spoiler and camo on the rear bumper. :shrug:
The rear bumper camo may suggest a difference in exhaust... as a turbo car would likely have larger exhaust outlets than a GT350 tip.

Gonna be interesting to see.

Looks like I see forward facing scoops in this spy pic like the GT500KR had. What say you?

I personally think those are vents, and there will be a much bigger extractor than the 350 currently has

Center of wheels look like Forgelines used on GT4. Would be a cheaper prospect than CF and weight about the same (I think?).

They also suggested they could be supercharged Voodoos. I would read to much into what they've written.....just enjoy the photos :)

What if Ford Performance developed another new engine..?

As an example, what if they snuck a 4.8 Voodoo FPC, piped with Twin-EcoBoost (two, dual scroll)... based closely on the newer developed "dual-fuel" 5.0..!

I mean ponder that. Keep you up all night just thinking about the breathing/manifold/exhaust nightmares, of having a dual-injected (DFI & port) with bi-twin scrolling turbos..?

It goes to 9,000...! :help:

4.75 = 289 if you round down
4.75 = 4.8 if you round up

Man, that huge hood bulge probably means supercharger, disappointed.

Ford not going TT is a step in the wrong direction. Look at all the cars going turbo charged. Hell even a base model 911 is now turbo charged. Not to mention the civic hatch back, also turbo'd. Supercharging is the old out dated method. I mean, when was the last time you saw a supercar that was supercharged? 2006 Ford GT?
Everything has turbos now, Mclarens, Ferrari, Mercedes AMG models. man, really disappointed, I was rooting for Ford to bring something new and blow away the competition.

Edit: just remembered the SLR, and the ZR1. So i guess 2013 was the last time we saw a blown "supercar".
I disagree. Most turbocharged applications have as much to do with fuel economy as they do performance. It's not coincidence that the big 2.5 still leverage supercharging for their performance needs. These cars are not lightweight. The off-idle torque from supercharging is well documented and is still undefeated in what it does. Supercharging is also much easier to tune and package. If the goal is power, and you can get their cheaper using supercharging, with less packaging issues, then why not? No need to engineer yourself out of the box that turbocharging puts you on when you already know supercharging will work. Not to mention you understand the cooling requirements of that application.

It's lazy true but it's easy. I rather ford get it right doing something know how to do well vs being different for the sake of being different only to have the customer base deal with limp mode (Z06 anyone).

Bo, the reason for turbocharging is for efficiency and extracting all the possible units of energy from the fuel. And as you said, for fuel economy & performance. Which is just really performance. Inherently, turbochargers are much better at this, than your typical/traditional supercharger. Although that may about to change given newer viable-chargers, that Ford is rumored to be experimenting with.

I do agree about SC being easy packaging, but superchargers are not as trouble free and easy as you claim. There is still associated noise/whine and other issues, as well. So..

Meanwhile, Ford's EcoBoost technology is Race proven... :ford:

I'd like to see a high-revving, small v8, twin-turbo from Ford Performance. A meaner & angrier 350R..!

I would like for ford to follow their Ecoboost stigma too. They could get huge power in a 5.0 TT. Let's be innovative ford, charge a few thousand more but for heavens sake don't take the easy route!

I'll chime in here FWIW, I love my Jag's 5L supercharged V-8, great torque, no SC whine to speak of and it stays nice and cool. It's also been trouble-free for 20K miles.

The top level should be TT.

A RUNG UNDERNEATH could be an SC option.

Ford has established itself as the most forward of the big three.

No need to stay stuck in the "way it's always been done."

From the first modern supercharged mustang in 2003 to the new car will have been 16 years.

Ford has been showing a very thoroughly engineered ecoboost tech in lesser engines for some time. It's ridiculous for the biggest and best engines - and the most important "halo" car that's actually accessible to modern man - to use inferior tech.
