Hey guys,

Just finished my first track session and really wish I knew how to heel toe downshift. I had tried practicing a few months ago, but it's extremely difficult for me since my accelerator and brake pedals are so far apart. Even with the car off, with the left corner of my foot on the brake, I still can't twist my foot far enough to even tap the accelerator. Not until I brake extremely hard (which would probably result in me skidding if I tried it on the road).

I've heard of some people saying they literally use their heel, but again the distance is so far apart, my heel would have to be further than the top of the foot by several inches, which I can't imagine doing comfortably and smoothly since they're so far apart. It'd be like standing up and trying to walk on your heels, except bending the top part of your foot further up than you can do so comfortably.

That being said, does anyone recommend the steeda heel toe pedal kit? I saw some other recommendations about doing another mod that'll result in the accelerator pedal being a little closer, closing the gap between the brake and accelerator pedals.

have you tried the garageline spacer? I am doing that first, if thats insufficient i will do the pedals. I am only hesitant on doing the pedals because i don't like the idea of drilling the factory pedals

Agreed. That's actually one of my concerns as well. I haven't tried the spacers just yet, but sounds like I need to look more into that as well.

I'd give them a shot, its 60-80$ if memory serves me correct, takes about 15min to install and can be completely reverted back to stock if necessary.

Sweet. Sounds great. I know I can probably search, but happen to have a link by chance? Lol.

Just a thought - I had 2 track days this weekend and I took my spacers out. IMO, it moved the accelerator far enough forward that I was hitting it under heavy braking. I do think spacers feel better on the street, but not sure they are the way to go on the track.

Also, I recommend these over the garageline if you are experimenting. Much cheaper and work great. https://spacecityspy.com/products/heel-toe-pedal-spacers

Thanks man. What do you use nowadays to help out with heel toe downshifting since you took out teh garageline spacers? If anything

I'm currently using the stock setup while I work on the driver mods :)

However, I will probably install some SRP pedals with the wider accel. pedal. The extra grip will be nice!

I have the Garageline spacer. It helped, but it took me far too long to achieve any ability to heal-toe with this pedal box. I was determined to do it without the Steeda pedal (or similar) and did. But, I did get to drive a car with the Steeda pedal and I could heal toe by the first stop light without a conscious thought. So, I recommend it - just bloody damn annoying a sports car has a pedal box like this. Personally I'd rather have the gas pedal hinged on the floor like BMWs. But that's just me.

I heel/toed for nearly every stop in my S197 GT with fantastic results, but couldn't get things to work properly in my S550 GT/PP. The accelerator pedal was too far down, and the brake pedal didn't have enough travel to get close. I used the plastic 3/8" spacer method to bring the accelerator pedal up, which made things much better, but changing the stock PP brake pads to Power Stop Z23s gave me more brake pedal travel (with similar stopping power), and now I can H/T without a hitch.

IMHO, there's ZERO reason to spend $60 or more on the spacer, when you can buy the plastic spacers at Lowe's for less than $4.
