A real Mustang person understands why the Camaro should not die.
A real Mustang guy should also understand. that if GM doesn't do something like build a vehicle that people want to be in. And can see out of. It's gonna be 2002 all over again!

We have this discussion every month.

The Camaro is $3-4k too expensive. Visibility sucks. The styling is too similar to last gen to get people to buy, and not in the same league as the S550, IMO. The interior layout/controls are aesthetically neat but functionally problematic (air vents blow onto shifter). The interior space, both back seat and trunk, are significantly worse than the Mustang. The materials are no better quality than the S550. All the performance advantages it holds for comparable trims aren't really accessible on the street, where 99% of miles are driven. Those performance upsides are not enough to offset all the above negatives.
I would agree with this. In terms of looking at the stat sheet or box score the Camaro checks all the boxes in terms of performance which is great. BUT this is still a car that people will be using as daily drivers, it still needs to be liveable and appears that that is not the case.

I also agree they should have been more willing to distance themselves from the design of the 5th gen.

Challenger 6,107

Interesting to see the Challenger doing so well since, like the Camaro, the styling is similar to the last "generation"... it's kind of been same car since 2008 granted refreshes... I don't know if they have been offering incentives to move them but they definitely moved in February.
That is very surprising to me that the Challenger is still selling so well

Sooner the camaro is history the better. :headbang:
i agree, let the CRAPMARO burn!!the LIFE of the mustang does not depend on the SCRAPMARO!!when the GT500 came back out it was on top with no comp.from the CRAPMARO or tug boat challenger.:ford:

I think someone said it earlier, but the Challenger definitely fills a niche the mustang and camaro don't. And while they are on an older platform, the ride is exceptionally smooth. I also think the bigger size appeals to those who want a two door but still a good amount of space. The Mustang and Camaro have both moved towards smaller more sporty cabins.

That goes to show you that regardless of performance, consumers are NOT cross-shopping the Camaro with anything but it's direct competitors. The performance chops of the Camaro are without a doubt notable, however, consumers are not opting for the Camaro over an BMW M product or the like, as GM likely hoped they would.

The Mustang added customers by going down market, and the Camaro attempted to go up market. It begs the question if this age of "track-focused" muscle cars is truly what people want. If it isn't the Mustang is the clear choice as it is sporty and comfortable while the Challenger is comfortable, and the Camaro is simply sporty.

Interesting times we live in indeed.

Same old story so much for the post on Car & driver saying the Camaro would take over the sales lead after that 1 month win.

Having owned all 3 cars within the last 12 months I really think you need to go drive all 3 before shitting on them.

It is not for everyone but I actually liked the bunker feeling that my Camaro had. I think Mustang looks better compared to both but Camaro and Mustang does not even come close to the Chally from a DD comfort level. The amount of space you have in the Challenger is just crazy compared to both Camaro and Mustang. You can actually fit normal size people in the back seats which is also a huge + if this is going to be your only car and not just a weekend toy.

That's stupid, like really stupid. Ford needs the camaro to continue to spark innovation. Competition breeds innovation within companies and if the camaro is discontinued then ford doesn't need to try as hard.
Agreed. The better the competition, the better it is for us the consumers. I understand the "us vs them" but think of the bigger picture.

My God man the Taxes....

I still think GM should have gone this way if they wanted to stay retro... If the 6gen looks something like that, and was as fast as it is. I would be seriously tempted.
