Also show me a log of this 8 sec coyote running 12.5 a/f at wot.
It doesn't shock me much 12.5 is about right for a lot of setups especially on race gas. On 93 I've tuned GDI turbos cars running 30psi at 13.0. Timing was lower but car made more power vs richer with more timing.

I was talking about 91-93....

Hence why I said our tunes are set up to run 11.8-12.1 WOT
(If a person is not seeing that, they should email us)

We use EGT's in testing. Obviously, the car doesn't have them.

Everything else I spoke about is talking about generalities, with all sorts of variables. All I said was "AFR isn't some magic number"....each car, platformok me , boost level, fuel type, poo f and fuel make up dictate a variable in this number. We set our tunes up for what we feel is powerful, yet safe enough for fuel quality across the US.
I agree i would rather have an egt gauge then a boost guage, egt's tell alot more and when i was refering to the op saying he had 12.1 a/f i was refering to the guage on the dash, everyone knows their calculated, but reading a/f ratio of the widebands from a datalog is pretty accurate as long as the car is mechanically sound.Thats does surprise me that u guys run that a/f ratio but u guys make the kit.A/f ratios have changed some recently because the amount ethanol in the fuel, which is why ford went to 14.2 instead of the 14.7.

On race stuff that I have better ECU's to control, I change AFR per gear. :)
And on DI cars have run as lean as 14.0 under 25psi of boost, for best EGT's and power output... but it's all relative at the end of the day.

What's crazy these days, is there are so many mail order "tunes" that get sent out, and everything is relying on a few OEM sensors being accurate, or hoping the dyno wideband isn't some old worn out unit. I could never sleep at night doing that, just to much stress of not sitting in the car and being able to hear it, and feel it, smell it, while tuning it.

The good old fashion, pulling of plugs and cutting them open...is what makes me happy. Even though most guys ask "what are you doing" lol.

No doubt having a real tuner tune a car on the dyno is about as good as its gets, being the tuner knows what he is doing.Mail order is new big thing, and just my opinion i think alot of the good tuners that do mail order tunes run them a little ritcher for alot of the reasons u stated. Its not going to make as much power sure, but like u said with so many variables i think they stay on the safe side.I finally just got all the little bugs out of mine along with the stock clutch said i give and i think the next track sessions will put me wheir i want☺

If you talk to it just right....it will tell you EVERYTHING. ;)
Good one. So I have a question for you ProChargerTECH regarding my high idle situation. Just wondering if the purge valve could be forcing it to happen. Wondering if the purge valve could have a potential problem that doesn't allow it to open correctly at lower rpms? I know it's working because it does the whole "psss" thing when I let my foot off the throttle after gunning it and it makes a semi-quiet whistling sound when just rolling through the neighborhood. Just curious if there is anything in its internals that could force it to not bleed off the excess air when the engine wants to idle?

Doubt it, you could remove that valve, or plug it shut... and it would basically drive the same at low speeds.

Seems temp related, as if some data that is temp related isn't making its way onto the ECU. Again, the issue is that others that have your same calibration and set up don't have the issue. So they are trying to find out why yours does it, and all others dont.

Keep in touch with the main tuning email, since I know the other guys are working on it with HPTuners. I am currently out of the office.

Thanks, I'll send an email to the tuning guys next week to see if there is any news. Thank you.

Bartly, Did PC ever get you a tune to correct the high idle? It seems that you had to do a smog check this month?? I would think they would be jumping all over this for you.

They are working on it. They have sent a few revisions to the tune and now I don't get the high idle check engine code, so that should get me through my inspection. Just having a hanging idle thing when I drive. They have been very responsive and sending tunes to try to make it better, so hopefully they figure it out soon. Though I am wishing they would request data logs, thinking that might be what it takes for fixing the issue. I've sent a couple, but haven't heard if they have opened them to analyze what's going on, or if I even recorded the correct data points.

So, still crossing fingers.

It will be interesting to see what has caused the issue. And I guess they don't need no stinking datalogs to get it fixed...

Subscribed since I am having the same RPM issue as mentioned in another thread.

I asked them for help looking at my data logs about my car running rich. I don't know if they saw them or not but said my headers were the cause. I doubt that and believe it might have been gas related but whatever I'll just get a custom tune.
